The Second Path: “Poetic Spirit”
The alternative requirement sounds abstract for a reason. Several players, including veterans from the Chinese version, report that Velvet Shade recognizes social transgression rather than beauty alone. Specifically, players who form and break partnership bonds multiple times within a short window have received invitations.
This method aligns with Velvet Shade’s lore and reputation. It also explains why some low-Elegance characters entered the sect while highly styled ones remained locked out.
That said, this path carries real costs. Divorce resets partnership progress, which many players hesitate to sacrifice.

Encounter Quests and the Kaifeng Rumor
Older guides mention a Velvet Shade encounter quest near Heaven’s Pier or Mohist Hill outside Kaifeng. On global servers, players rarely see this event. For now, running back and forth does not help.
