Marvel’s Wolverine is packed with hidden Material Crates, and tracking down all 68 is one of the biggest collectible hunts for players chasing full completion. These crates are scattered across Canada, Madripoor and Japan, with some sitting directly along the story route while others are hidden in rooftops, tunnels, trucks, side rooms, construction sites and optional paths.
The payoff is also useful beyond simply ticking collectibles off a list. The Materials inside the crates are used to craft new Wolverine suits and work toward permanent Health upgrades, making these pickups part of Logan’s progression as well as the game’s collectible system. PlayStation also highlights the Crate Finder Adaptation, which can help locate collectibles from farther away and through obstructions.
And the good news for anyone who missed something: the Nightmare Cabin lets you replay missions, so you can return to earlier chapters instead of restarting the entire campaign. The collectibles are not missable and can be cleaned up through chapter selection after the story.

Every Material Crate in Marvel’s Wolverine
There are 68 Material Crates across 20 missions, divided into four major campaign sections:
| Region / Section | Material Crates |
| Canada | 15 |
| Madripoor Part One | 9 |
| Japan | 29 |
| Madripoor Part Two | 15 |
| Total | 68 |
Part 1: Canada and Madripoor Part One
Canada — 15 Material Crates
Canada has 15 Material Crates across five missions, with several of them appearing naturally as you progress.
| Mission | Crates |
| Homecoming | 2 |
| The One That Got Away | 4 |
| Raise Some Hell | 4 |
| Strays | 1 |
| Something Much Stronger | 4 |
| Total | 15 |
Homecoming — 2 crates
Both crates in Homecoming are tied directly to story progression while Logan is helping Walter.
- Crate 1: During the objective to bring the supply crates to Walter, find the first crate behind Walter in a storage room in the lab.
- Crate 2: After delivering the first crate, follow the scent upstairs to Victor’s room to find the second one.
These are effectively unmissable because they are required for progression.

The One That Got Away — 4 crates
This mission starts hiding collectibles more aggressively, so keep Logan’s senses ready.
- Crate 1: After riding the zipline and fighting the Reavers, turn around and return to the fence you crossed. Near the gate, look between stacks of wood for the crate.
- Crate 2: Continue until you climb onto another building with a lone Reaver below. Smash through the glass and drop to ground level. Near the small boat, enter the short tunnel to find the crate.
- Crate 3: At the river where the purple roots lead toward a Nightmare Door, follow the river to the right. The crate will be visible pulsing in the distance.
- Crate 4: At the docks, before opening the second container, check the blue container beside it. Use the nearby hook to ride upward and reach the crate.
Raise Some Hell — 4 crates
The snowy forest and refinery areas are hiding four more crates.
- Crate 1: Early in the mission, during the area with three snipers, jump down and check the left side.
- Crate 2: In the same general area, stay at ground level and follow the stream to its dead end.
- Crate 3: In the later construction-yard section with Reavers, check the back-left corner from where you entered, near the huts.
- Crate 4: After going through the refinery, you will reach an outdoor area with containers and a Nightmare Door. Check the back of the truck directly ahead.

Strays — 1 crate
There is only one Material Crate in Strays.
- Crate 1: Follow Leech’s scent toward his drawings. After leaving the lab, enter the armoury at the end of the hallway. The crate is right beside the door.
Something Much Stronger — 4 crates
The final Canadian crates are spread along the route to the cabin.
- Crate 1: At the beginning of the route, reach the stream and look right for a climbable tree. Climb up and jump toward the wall to reach the crate.
- Crate 2: After rescuing the wolf, continue along the main path. The crate is on the left before you run up the fallen tree.
- Crate 3: Shortly afterward, you will reach a split in the path. Take the right-hand route toward the fishing hut, where the crate is waiting.
- Crate 4: Once you climb the cliff and reach the cabin, look to the right before entering it.

Madripoor Part One — 9 Material Crates
The first Madripoor section contains nine Material Crates across three missions.
| Mission | Crates |
| Knock Knock | 2 |
| Mutant Detected | 4 |
| One Last Mission | 3 |
| Total | 9 |
Knock Knock — 2 crates
- Crate 1: After destroying the vehicle with the laser turret and entering the power station, look directly ahead behind the counter.
- Crate 2: Later, after fighting Reavers in the server room, climb to the next level. A vent grate will be directly ahead. Go through it to reach the crate.
Mutant Detected — 4 crates
This mission includes a couple of locked areas, so remember the codes.
- Crate 1: At the beginning, check behind the reception desk beneath the Trask Industries sign. The associated door code is 0514, with the fingerprints glowing blue on the keypad.
- Crate 2: After the cutscene with Trask, Mystique opens a door. Go through it and immediately look right.
- Crate 3: Much later, after exploring Bay 7, Mystique transforms into Wolverine and breaks open a door. Go through it, take the first opportunity to the left and find a locked door. The code is 0291, and the crate is inside.
- Crate 4: After going through the portal and completing the jet-engine sequence, walk forward past the fire. The crate is immediately to the left.

One Last Mission — 3 crates
- Crate 1: At the beginning, go through the doorway behind the bar.
- Crate 2: After leaving the bar, follow the main route toward the Nightmare Door. Instead of continuing upstairs, take the stairs going down on the left. The crate is near the Noodle Bar at the bottom.
- Crate 3: After the rooftop chase and the fight against the Hand, head down the pier on the left. The crate is at the end.
With Madripoor Part One cleared, you should have 24 of the game’s 68 Material Crates.
Part 2: Japan and Madripoor Part Two
Japan — 29 Material Crates
Japan has the largest concentration of Material Crates, with 29 collectibles spread across seven missions.
| Mission | Crates |
| Get Angry | 5 |
| Bad Blood | 4 |
| In the Shadows | 7 |
| Death Comes to Death | 3 |
| We Were Wrong | 5 |
| Hell Followed With Him | 4 |
| Sinister Tidings | 1 |
| Total | 29 |
Get Angry — 5 crates
- Crate 1: When looking for the arcade, check the alley beside the Smash.Compete shop.
- Crate 2: During the bar section connected to Jean’s vision, ride the elevator down and look right at the bottom.
- Crate 3: After destroying the first three incense burners, leave the room and check the short corridor on the right. The crate is partially hidden by other wooden crates.
- Crate 4: After the sequence involving Jean’s cries for help and the swinging poles, reach the top of the metal structure and turn around. The crate is back at the other end.
- Crate 5: After finding the Telepath and riding the elevator, enter the storage room and check the right side behind the metal shelves.

Bad Blood — 4 crates
The construction site around Shiro’s building contains several of these.
- Crate 1: After using the rope lift to reach the rooftop, cross toward Shiro’s building. The crate is behind breakable boxes on the next building.
- Crate 2: After meeting Jean outside Shiro’s building, reach the top of the scaffolding you need to climb. The crate is there.
- Crate 3: Continue through the next building. Where Jean is hovering above a blue lift, you can go left or drop down to the right. Drop down to reach the crate.
- Crate 4: After jumping onto the lift and being moved to another building by Jean, turn around instead of continuing upward. Jump down to the different building, turn right and enter the doorway to find the crate.
In the Shadows — 7 crates
With seven Material Crates, this is one of the biggest collectible-heavy missions in the campaign.
- Crate 1: Enter the arcade, but do not immediately go through the main doors. Turn around and descend the stairs.
- Crate 2: From the arcade, follow the streets toward the building with the dinosaur-head landmark. Use Logan’s senses and continue toward the rooftop route.
- Crate 3: During the detector sequence, reach the third detector on a rooftop. Face the detector, turn left and cross to the next roof.
- Crate 4: On the route to the fourth detector, you will reach a story-path zipline. Before using it, check the building below and look around the corner of the roof.
- Crate 5: On the same roof, climb the large pipe and use the zipline to reach the next roof. The crate is beside the fourth detector.
- Crate 6: After the noodle truck takes you to the construction-site hideout, go left and around the corner. The crate is beside a digger.
- Crate 7: After Jean disguises Logan and you pass through the secret route, continue down the corridor and turn left at the end to find the crate.
- Crate 8? There isn’t an eighth crate—the mission has seven total. The rooftop collectible during the return route toward Shiro’s location is the seventh and final one.
Death Comes to Death — 3 crates
- Crate 1: At the beginning, before jumping down, turn left and check behind the metal vents.
- Crate 2: After examining the security footage, enter the room containing pipes. Immediately go right and move underneath a pipe.
- Crate 3: After following the drag marks, you will reach an elevator. Check just to the right of it before continuing.

We Were Wrong — 5 crates
- Crate 1: Follow the drag marks until you reach the truck marked Alchemax. Look behind it among the boxes.
- Crate 2: After entering the restaurant and defeating the enemies, climb to the ledge above the main stage, where the archers were.
- Crate 3: Continue until you fight another group of enemies and reach an overturned car. Go left to the end of the road and check the alley.
- Crate 4: Continue following the footprints. After another fight, pass through the broken wall into the area with shipping containers. Look behind the truck on the left.
- Crate 5: After the major warehouse fight, tear open the gate and go downstairs. At the bottom, turn left.
Hell Followed With Him — 4 crates
- Crate 1: At the start of the level, move forward until Jean is examining a weapons rack. Go left and around the corner.
- Crate 2: In the same area, find the stairs leading to the training area in the back right. The crate is in the left corner.
- Crate 3: In the forest section with multiple enemies, stay toward the right side as you move upward. You will eventually reach the crate.
- Crate 4: After opening the huge shrine doors, immediately look to the left.

Sinister Tidings — 1 crate
The only crate in Sinister Tidings is inside Shiro’s secret room.
- Crate 1: Interact with the sink in the bathroom, then head upstairs into Shiro’s hidden room. This is the same room you previously accessed during Bad Blood.
At this point, the Japan section is complete, bringing the campaign total to 53 Material Crates.
Madripoor Part Two — 15 Material Crates
The final section has another 15 crates across five missions.
| Mission | Crates |
| Way Down Low | 4 |
| Roll The Dice | 1 |
| Field Test | 2 |
| I’m Still Here | 5 |
| This Was The Dream | 3 |
| Total | 15 |
Way Down Low — 4 crates
This mission has three crates hidden inside trucks, so don’t assume the first truck is the only one worth checking.
- Crate 1: After freeing the civilians from the truck at the first Reaver checkpoint, check the back of that same truck.
- Crate 2: At the next checkpoint, another civilian truck contains a crate. This is along the route toward meeting Jean at the clocktower.
- Crate 3: Backtrack slightly and take the side road. Continue to its end to find another checkpoint and civilian truck containing the crate.
- Crate 4: After finding the Reaver key, climb the building where the sniper is firing at you. When you see the radio tower, look right for a rooftop with satellite dishes.
Roll The Dice — 1 crate
- Crate 1: After fighting all the Reavers in the casino backroom, look right before using the service elevator.
Field Test — 2 crates
- Crate 1: After freeing the civilians, continue along the main road toward the Dream Street Theater. When you see the red car, go left to find the crate.
- Crate 2: After fighting enemies and destroying the turret vehicle, a Sentinel attacks. Check the left side of the area near the market stalls.
I’m Still Here — 5 crates
There is a notable discrepancy in one supplied table for this mission: it lists three crates, while the detailed locations and independent collectible references identify five. The correct mission total is five.
- Crate 1: After defeating the large purple Sentinel, cut through the debris and choose the right-hand route. Follow it to the end and enter the building.
- Crate 2: From the previous location, return and take the left-hand story route. Defeat the next two Sentinels, then check the right-hand path. Do not continue to the Noodle Bar or you have gone too far.
- Crate 3: Inside the Noodle Bar, before going through the door on the bottom floor, turn around and climb to the middle floor and the room containing the crate.
- Crate 4: After leaving the Noodle Bar, enter the area where several Sentinels are patrolling. The crate is inside a destroyed building below the point where you enter.
- Crate 5: After the cutscene showing Jean in the distance, jump down. Two Reavers will be ahead, and the crate is nearby beside a car.

This Was The Dream — 3 crates
These are the final three Material Crates in the entire game.
- Crate 1: Ride the bell up the tower. After Jean kills two Reavers, go outside and check immediately to the right of the doorway.
- Crate 2: During the sequence back in Tyger’s Bar involving Essex, Logan is transported to a facility. After smashing the window, look down and to the left.
- Crate 3: Following another Essex sequence, this time in the Team X hideout, enter the new room and go upstairs to the left.
Once Crate 68 is collected, the full 68-Material-Crate collection is complete.
What Material Crates Actually Do
These aren’t just collectibles that sit in your inventory for a trophy.
According to PlayStation, the Materials found inside Material Crates are used to craft new suits and work toward additional permanent Health upgrades. PlayStation also recommends using Logan’s senses to locate the crates while exploring.
The Crate Finder Adaptation is particularly useful when you’re cleaning up missed collectibles. It makes collectibles easier to detect from greater distances and even through obstructions. PlayStation specifically lists Crate Finder alongside Whisky Finder as an exploration-focused Adaptation.
And while the suits look cool, their gameplay function should not be confused with their appearance. PlayStation confirms that Wolverine’s outfits and claw styles are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay.
You Don’t Have to Restart the Campaign
Missing a crate does not mean your entire run is ruined.
Once you gain access to the Nightmare Cabin, missions can be replayed. The campaign’s replay structure lets you return to earlier missions and clean up collectibles, while none of the collectibles are missable and can be obtained through chapter selection after the story.
That makes the collectible hunt much less stressful. You can focus on the story first, then return to the exact missions where your tracker shows unfinished collectibles.

Marvel’s Wolverine Is Now a Full 68-Crate Completion Hunt
Marvel’s Wolverine launched exclusively on PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026, with its single-player adventure taking Logan across locations including Canada, Madripoor and Japan. PlayStation’s official material describes the game around exploration, combat, Adaptations and Logan’s enhanced senses, while its hands-on coverage specifically points to hidden crates containing upgrade materials.
For completion-focused players, the important number is simple: 68.
The crates are spread across 20 missions, with 15 in Canada, nine in Madripoor Part One, 29 in Japan and 15 in Madripoor Part Two. The one table discrepancy worth remembering is I’m Still Here, where the detailed locations and independent guides support five crates rather than three.
So, whether you’re chasing the Crate Collector trophy, hunting Materials for suit crafting and permanent Health progression, or simply trying to squeeze every collectible out of Logan’s journey, this mission-by-mission route gives you the full path from the first Canadian crate in Homecoming all the way to Crate 68 in This Was The Dream.
