Is Ready or Not Crossplay?

Crossplay often determines whether a tactical shooter feels like a shared experience or a divided one. In Ready or Not, the answer leans toward connection rather than separation. The game brings players from different platforms together, though it also gives you full authority over how open that connection becomes.

This guide offers a structured path through every part of the crossplay system. Instead of breaking the topic into narrow slices, we explore it through the eyes of someone stepping into the game, adjusting settings, and building a squad across platforms.

Where You Can Play Ready or Not Together?

If your question begins with whether Ready or Not supports crossplay, you can check that one off immediately.
The game allows players to join one another from:

  • Steam
  • Epic Games Store
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PlayStation 5

The feature works globally. You decide when it is active or disabled.

The crossplay toggle lives inside the Gameplay Options menu. The switch works only from the main menu since the game locks that part of the settings during missions.
On consoles, the toggle may appear unavailable when platform-level limitations exist, such as parental controls.

How You Gain Control Over Crossplay

The first time you step into multiplayer, the game asks whether you want crossplay enabled. This choice sets your initial preference but does not trap you. If you want to change it later, you simply:

  1. Open Settings from the main menu
  2. Enter Gameplay Options
  3. Scroll down to the crossplay toggle

Your matchmaking becomes as open or as closed as you prefer.

Understanding Lobbies Through the Hostโ€™s Eyes

The crossplay system revolves around the host of each session. The hostโ€™s settings determine how others join.

Public Sessions

A public session follows the hostโ€™s crossplay preference. If the host allows crossplay, players who also keep crossplay enabled can join freely.

Friends-Only Sessions

When you create a friends-only lobby, the game lets you set crossplay for that specific session. This temporary choice does not adjust your global crossplay settings.

If someone tries to join a session with crossplay enabled while keeping their own toggle off, the game prompts them to switch it on before entering.

The result feels clean: you never get locked out without an explanation, and you never get forced into crossplay unexpectedly.

How Mods Affect Crossplay

One of the clearest limitations comes from mod support.

  • PC players can use mods.
  • Console players cannot.

If a PC host loads into a session with mods active, console players cannot join, even when crossplay is enabled.
When you want a mixed-platform squad, the host must run a mod-free setup.

Epic Account Linking: Optional but Helpful

Crossplay works without linking an Epic Games account, but the experience becomes smoother when you choose to link one. The game connects to Epic Online Services (EOS), which adds tools such as a unified friend list and easier party invites.

Benefits of Linking

Once linked, you gain:

  • Epic Friends list access
  • Cross-platform friend searching and adding
  • The EOS Overlay for invites and notifications
  • Real-time friend activity updates
  • Cleaner party management across all platforms

If You Choose Not to Link

You still get crossplay, but your social tools stay more limited. Your in-game friends list shows only friends from your platform, and you cannot use Epicโ€™s unified social system.

How to Link

Inside the Gameplay Options menu, youโ€™ll find the Multiplayer Options section. The Account Linking button takes you through the process. After linking successfully, the button becomes a status indicator instead of an action button.

Unlinking Rules

You must unlink through the Epic Account Portal.
Epic places a 12-month cooldown after unlinking before the account can be linked to another platform profile.

The EOS Overlay: Your Cross-Platform Control Panel

If your Epic account is linked, the EOS Overlay becomes available. It serves as a quick-access hub for invites, friend lists, and party management.

You can open it using:

  • Shift + F3 on PC
  • View Button on Xbox
  • Touchpad on PlayStation

The overlay pulls both platform friends (if applicable) and Epic Friends into one space, giving you a cleaner way to manage your squad without digging through multiple menus.
