Big Walk All Endings Guide: How to Unlock the True Ending, White Key, and Big Game Achievement

Final completion message screen in Big Walk signed by developer House House.

If you thought Big Walk was over the moment the credits rolled, think again. I made the same mistake during my first playthrough. I reached what looked like the ending, celebrated with my team, and then realized House House had been hiding an even bigger challenge the entire time.

The game actually features two separate endings, and the second one isn’t something you’ll stumble into by accident. To reach it, you have to prove you’ve truly mastered every puzzle the island has to offer. That means revisiting unfinished challenges, tackling a brutal set of post-game puzzles, and unlocking one final secret hidden where your adventure first began.

If you’re chasing 100% completion, trying to earn the Big Game achievement, or simply wondering whether Big Walk has a true ending, this guide covers everything you need to know without missing a single step.

How Many Endings Are There in Big Walk?

Big Walk has two endings:

  • Standard (First) Ending
  • True Ending (100% Completion Ending)

The Standard Ending is the one most players naturally reach by progressing through the game’s main objectives. It wraps up the primary adventure and feels like a satisfying conclusion at first.

But once the credits finish rolling, the game quietly reveals that your journey isn’t actually over. New content becomes available, opening the path toward the True Ending and the coveted Big Game achievement.

Don’t Miss: Big Walk isn’t the only game rewarding players with multiple conclusions. Our Splatoon Raiders Endings Guide breaks down every ending, how to unlock them, and what each outcome means.

How to Unlock the First Ending in Big Walk

To reach the first ending, you’ll need to complete the game’s main puzzle progression across the island.

Here’s everything you need to do:

  • Complete the colored tower puzzle chains.
  • Solve the Red Tower, which unlocks the Map Room.
  • Unlock and complete the Black Tower, the massive black sphere that’s been looming in the distance throughout your adventure.
  • Collect all required puzzle rewards and keys.
  • Open the final structure once the black sphere becomes accessible.
  • Complete the final sequence of puzzles inside.

After completing these objectives, you’ll trigger Big Walk’s first ending.

While it definitely feels like the finale, the game makes it clear that there are still secrets waiting to be uncovered.

The Final Puzzles Feel Completely Different

One of my favorite moments in Big Walk comes right before the first ending because the game suddenly changes how your team has to think.

Instead of throwing a giant boss fight or an over-the-top action sequence at you, House House doubles down on what makes Big Walk special—teamwork.

During these final puzzles, many players notice that traditional voice communication becomes unreliable. Suddenly, your group can’t rely on normal voice chat the way you have throughout most of the adventure.

Instead, you’re pushed to communicate using the habits, signals, and teamwork you’ve naturally built while solving puzzles together.

It’s a brilliant design choice because the game isn’t testing individual skill anymore. It’s testing whether your team has actually learned how to work together.

How to Unlock the True Ending in Big Walk

The real ending only becomes available after you’ve completed the first ending.

Once the credits finish, you’ll notice seven brand-new purple puzzles scattered throughout the world.

These aren’t simple bonus challenges.

They’re significantly harder than the standard puzzles, taking mechanics you’ve already mastered and pushing them much further with far more demanding layouts and coordination.

To unlock the True Ending, you’ll need to:

  • Finish the first ending.
  • Complete every remaining puzzle in the game.
  • Solve any regular puzzles you skipped during your first playthrough.
  • Complete all seven purple post-game puzzles.
  • Collect the final White Key.
  • Return to the starting/tutorial area.
  • Find the cracked black sphere embedded in the wall.
  • Interact with the newly revealed keyhole behind it.
  • Use the White Key to unlock the hidden room.

The moment you step inside this secret room, the game’s True Ending begins.

Completing this sequence also unlocks the Big Game achievement, confirming you’ve achieved full 100% completion.

Do You Need Every Puzzle for the True Ending?

Yes—you really do.

Unlike the standard ending, which allows plenty of optional puzzles to remain unfinished, the True Ending requires complete puzzle completion across the entire game.

That means you must complete:

  • Every normal puzzle.
  • Every colored tower.
  • Every post-game purple puzzle.
  • Every puzzle skipped during your first playthrough before the White Key becomes available.

If even one puzzle remains incomplete, the hidden ending cannot be unlocked.

Where Is the Secret Ending Room?

After finally earning the White Key, it’s time to head back to where everything started.

Return to the starting/tutorial area near the original spawn point. Hidden within this area is a cracked black sphere embedded in a wall. It looks familiar, but this time something has changed.

Once you’ve completed every required objective, a hidden keyhole appears behind the cracked sphere.

Use the White Key to unlock it.

The moment the door opens and you step inside the previously inaccessible room, Big Walk’s True Ending begins immediately.

It’s one of those moments that makes all the extra exploration and puzzle-solving feel completely worth it.

How to Unlock the Big Game Achievement

If you’re hunting every achievement, this is the one you’ve been working toward the entire game.

The Big Game achievement is tied directly to the True Ending, meaning you can’t unlock it without completing every required objective first.

Here’s the full progression:

  • Complete every colored tower.
  • Unlock the Black Tower.
  • Finish the black sphere puzzle sequence.
  • Reach the first ending.
  • Return and solve every remaining puzzle.
  • Complete all seven purple puzzles.
  • Obtain the White Key.
  • Visit the hidden room behind the cracked black sphere.
  • Unlock the room using the White Key.
  • Watch the True Ending.

As the final ending concludes, the Big Game achievement unlocks, confirming you’ve officially reached 100% completion.

Are the Purple Puzzles Harder?

Absolutely.

The seven purple puzzles are widely considered the toughest challenges in the entire game.

The interesting part is that they don’t introduce completely new mechanics. Instead, they take everything you’ve already learned throughout your adventure and crank the difficulty way up.

Expect:

  • More complicated coordination.
  • Longer puzzle chains.
  • Tougher communication challenges.
  • Less room for mistakes.
  • Greater reliance on teamwork.

Since the mechanics remain familiar, success comes from mastering everything you’ve already learned instead of figuring out brand-new systems.

If your group worked well together during the main campaign, these puzzles become the ultimate test of just how strong that teamwork has become.

What Do Big Walk’s Endings Actually Mean?

One of the biggest questions players ask after finishing Big Walk is whether the game hides some deep lore or a massive story reveal behind its endings.

The answer is surprisingly simple—and completely intentional.

Big Walk doesn’t tell a traditional narrative.

There aren’t lengthy cutscenes explaining the island.

There aren’t major plot twists waiting at the finish line.

There aren’t detailed character backstories that suddenly answer every mystery.

Instead, House House builds the game’s entire story around the people playing it together.

Every puzzle your team solves.

Every confusing moment that leaves everyone scratching their heads.

Every failed attempt.

Every improvised way your group invents to communicate.

Every celebration after finally solving a difficult challenge.

Those shared experiences become the game’s real narrative.

This philosophy becomes especially obvious during the final sections, where players are encouraged—or sometimes even forced—to rely on the communication methods they’ve naturally developed throughout the adventure instead of depending on normal voice chat.

The first ending celebrates reaching the end of that shared journey while quietly hinting that there’s still another layer waiting to be discovered.

The True Ending builds on that idea.

Rather than rewarding players with hidden lore dumps or shocking revelations, it rewards the dedication required to explore every puzzle scattered across the island.

Instead of delivering a conventional story finale, Big Walk treats the journey itself as the destination. The teamwork, the laughs, the problem-solving, and the memories your group creates together become the real ending.

It’s a refreshing approach that makes the experience feel personal instead of scripted.

Is the True Ending Worth Unlocking?

If your goal is simply to finish the main story, the Standard Ending already delivers a satisfying conclusion.

But if you’re the kind of player who refuses to leave achievements unfinished or wants to experience absolutely everything Big Walk has to offer, stopping after the credits would mean missing some of the game’s best content.

The True Ending is the ultimate reward for players willing to go the extra mile.

It asks you to complete every puzzle, conquer all seven challenging purple puzzles, collect the White Key, unlock the hidden room, and witness the game’s final conclusion.

On top of that, you’ll also earn the Big Game achievement, proving you’ve experienced Big Walk exactly as its developers intended.

So if you’re chasing 100% completion, don’t let the first credits fool you. Your biggest challenge—and the game’s real ending—is still waiting after they roll.
