Okay, I have refreshed GTA 6 Twitter more times this month than I would like to admit, and honestly, I know I am not the only one doing this. The whole fandom is buzzing right now because speculation around Grand Theft Auto VI’s third trailer has picked up hard, with most people betting on a window somewhere between late July and mid-August. Rockstar Games has said absolutely nothing, though, and as of July 22, that trailer still has not shown up, which is exactly why everyone is losing it a little.
But don’t worry, I have dug up all the possibilities behind the studio’s silence and laid out everything that has been revealed so far.

The two big theories behind Rockstar’s silence
There are two main theories floating around right now, and I want to be upfront that both are still just speculation, not anything confirmed. One idea that just got cleared up is that Rockstar was supposedly waiting out the FIFA World Cup so it would not have to compete with wall-to-wall sports coverage, and now that the tournament has wrapped, that excuse is gone.
The other theory everyone keeps pointing to is Take-Two Interactive’s earnings call on August 7, since Rockstar has a bit of a track record of timing big reveals around its parent company’s reporting dates. However, that being said, earlier earnings calls have gotten this same kind of hype before, and nothing came of it, so do not treat this as a lock.
What we do know for sure is that pre-orders have been live since June 25 at 79.99 dollars and 99.99 dollars, and Rockstar dropped more than 60 new screenshots around that same announcement. However, since then all we have gotten is basically radio silence, no gameplay deep dive, nothing new, which honestly is exactly what is making everyone this antsy for trailer three.

How this compares to the last two trailers
This quiet marketing approach is just very on brand for Rockstar. If you look back at how the last two trailers went, trailer one landed in December 2023, and trailer two followed in May 2025, so depending on how you count that gap, it is somewhere between 13 and 17 months. Fans are basically using that same math to guess when we might be due for another one.

Here’s the thing about Rockstar just not saying anything
Grand Theft Auto VI is still set to launch on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S worldwide (including the US and UK), with digital preloading supposedly kicking off on November 12. Physical copies are reportedly shipping as code in a box rather than an actual disc, which is its own whole conversation.
The game is confirmed single-player at launch, and there is still no word on a PC version either, which honestly tracks with how Rockstar usually rolls out its games. GTA Online details are a total mystery for now too, and Rockstar has a habit of saving that stuff for after launch anyway. Given how close we are to release, a third trailer really should be the last big marketing moment before launch, but worth remembering this date has already moved around a lot, from an original 2025 window, to May 2026, and now finally to November, so nothing is set in stone until Rockstar actually says so.

The Early Access rumors and pricing pushback
Fans have also started wondering out loud about a possible Early Access option, though again, nothing official there, and Rockstar has never really done paid Early Access for a major release before. For now, some players are wary of it over cost and leak worries, while others say they would gladly pay extra just to get in early.
Meanwhile, on the legacy side of things, GTA V has sold around 230 million copies, making it one of the best-selling games of all time. It’s also worth mentioning that the $80 and $100 pricing on the Standard and Ultimate editions has caught some flak for sitting above the usual $70 AAA price point, even though pre-orders reportedly did just fine. And with Take-Two apparently pinning a lot of its FY2027 expectations on this launch, do not be shocked if more reveals pop up around events like Gamescom in August.

A smaller rumor worth knowing
There is also a smaller, thinner story making the rounds that I want to flag as more niche than confirmed. An actor has listed a credit for “several characters” for Rockstar Games on her Backstage profile, tied to work supposedly done back in February 2025. She is reportedly under an NDA, which would explain the lack of role details, and honestly there is no way right now to know if that work is voice acting, performance capture, or both. This one is still unverified beyond her own profile listing, so take it with a grain of salt for now.
So yeah, the wait continues. Whether trailer three actually drops around August 7 or later, all Rockstar has given us so far is pre-orders, cover art, and screenshots. The real reveal is still very much pending.
