Danganronpa 2×2 finally gets its January 14, 2027 release date

Danganronpa 2×2 was initially targeting 2026 before development was pushed into early 2027.

In July 2026, producer Shohei Sakakibara explained that the team had decided to delay the game while development continued, promising that a specific release date would follow.

Jabberwock Island is back — and Monokuma is ready

The tropical setting of Jabberwock Island once again becomes the stage for a deadly killing game.

What initially looks like a peaceful school trip quickly turns into something much darker when Monokuma enters the picture.

If you’re planning to buy the physical Nintendo Switch 2 version, there is one detail you absolutely need to know.

Danganronpa 2×2 on Nintendo Switch 2 will use a Game-Key Card.

Spike Chunsoft announced in August that the Switch 2 release would use this format in all regions, including North America and Europe. The change applies specifically to the Switch 2 version of Danganronpa 2×2 and does not affect other platforms or other games.

Customers who pre-ordered the Psycho Tropical Vacation Package for Nintendo Switch 2 through the Spike Chunsoft Official Store in the United States were told their orders would be canceled.

Those customers could then place a new pre-order for the Game-Key Card version.

UK and EU Spike Chunsoft Store orders

Customers who pre-ordered the Psycho Tropical Vacation Package through Spike Chunsoft’s UK or EU stores would not have their orders canceled.

However, those customers would receive the Game-Key Card version.

Other retailers

Customers who pre-ordered either the Switch 2 Standard Edition or Psycho Tropical Vacation Package from other retailers would also keep their orders, but the product supplied would be the Game-Key Card edition.

So if you’re expecting a traditional physical cartridge containing the entire game, make sure you know what you’re buying before placing that order.

Psycho Tropical Vacation Package brings the collector energy

For players who want more than the standard game, Spike Chunsoft is also offering the Psycho Tropical Vacation Package.

And honestly, this thing is pretty loaded.

The limited edition includes:
