The Grand Theft Auto 6 leak saga has officially moved from internet chaos to federal court. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, is now seeking records from Microsoft and Discord in an effort to identify whoever is operating behind the CyberLeek persona and distributing unreleased GTA 6 material.

The legal filings seek far more than the identity of a social media account. Take-Two is asking for IP addresses, account information, linked services, device identifiers, telemetry and OneDrive records. Microsoft and Discord have been given a September 4, 2026 deadline to provide the requested information, potentially giving investigators a much clearer picture of the digital trail behind the leaks.

Take-Two’s GTA 6 Leak Subpoenas Target CyberLeek, Discord Accounts and Microsoft Records

Take-Two filed multiple subpoena requests in federal district court as it investigates the spread of leaked GTA 6 gameplay footage. One petition filed in the Southern District Court of New York on August 20 describes the copyrighted material at issue as including audiovisual content, artwork, images, dialogue and other creative elements.

The filing says Take-Two submitted a sworn declaration explaining that the DMCA subpoena is intended to identify alleged infringers.

“Take-Two, through its counsel of record, has submitted a sworn declaration confirming that the purpose for which the DMCA subpoena is sought is to obtain the identity of an alleged infringer or infringers, and that such information will only be used for the purpose of protecting Take-Two’s rights…”

That distinction matters. The subpoenas are not proof that any particular account holder leaked the game. They are an attempt to uncover who may be behind the distribution.

Microsoft’s request focuses heavily on the CyberLeek investigation. Take-Two is asking for internal Microsoft business and investigative records connected to the persona, including information sufficient to identify the users, people or entities associated with CyberLeek.

The request also covers accounts that were or are members communicating with specified Discord servers from June 1, 2026, through the present. For those accounts, Take-Two wants identifying and technical information, including account IDs, registration emails, registration and last-login IP addresses, phone numbers, linked Google and Xbox accounts, device identifiers such as MachineGuid/MSA, and relevant GTA, Rockstar or CyberLeek content from OneDrive.

Discord is facing a similarly broad request. The subpoena specifically names “CYBERLEEK,” “CINEMATICROCKSTAR,” and “Surfer24k™ (+ replacement handles cyberleek_west, surwest)”. It also references Ødyssey.gg, the “! Odyssey” public brand guild, and the DarkViperAU editors’ server.

That does not mean everyone connected to those communities is accused of anything. The records are being sought because Take-Two believes they could help connect online identities and accounts to the people responsible for distributing the leaked material.

One name on that list quickly drew attention: Matthew “Matt” Judge, better known online as DarkViperAU. After learning that his Discord information appeared in the subpoena, Judge wrote on X:

“They’re asking for my discord info, I’m mentioned by name,”

He continued:

“I don’t know anything. That isn’t my editors discord. There aren’t even any clips of the leaks in either of my Discords. I am confused.”

Judge also speculated:

“I did say he can’t drive multiple times, so maybe I caused him to write ‘Cyberleek can’t drive’ on the most recent clips? Maybe he visited my Discord, I dunno.”

He said Rockstar had not contacted him directly:

“Rockstar hasn’t emailed me, I suspect if they thought I knew something personally they would do so.”

And he concluded:

“Everyone is talking about these leaks, I am not special, hopefully.”

The latest leaked footage has surfaced shortly before Rockstar’s planned August 27, 2026 extended look at GTA 6, adding even more attention to the situation. The game itself is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026.

CyberLeek remains publicly unidentified. The persona has been associated with a manifesto criticising digital pre-orders, digital-only releases, certain DLC practices and how finished game content is sold or distributed. CyberLeek has also appeared to use the attention generated by the leaks to promote a cryptocurrency meme coin.

That combination of unreleased footage, industry criticism and cryptocurrency promotion has left the motive behind the operation unclear. For now, Take-Two appears focused on following the data trail rather than simply removing leaked clips from the internet.

The next stage could therefore depend on what Microsoft and Discord can provide. IP addresses, linked accounts, device identifiers, cloud records and communications could potentially help investigators determine whether different usernames were controlled by the same person or group.

Still, the legal filings do not establish that CyberLeek has been identified, nor do they establish wrongdoing by DarkViperAU, any Discord server owner, or members of the communities named in the subpoenas. Rockstar has not publicly identified the alleged leaker, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Matthew “Matt” Judge has publicly denied knowing anything about the leak operation. Claims concerning CyberLeek’s identity, activities, motives and connections remain subject to investigation unless independently established by court findings or other authoritative evidence.
