What’s wrong with stuffing a passenger’s face with a burger when the plane’s door blows open, flying out another passenger?
When I first hit play on the Dear Passengers announcement trailer, I was not sure what to expect. Instead, I watched the whole thing twice. I would be lying if I said I don’t have a bias for an unhinged co-op that I can enjoy with my best friends. And if you are someone like me who enjoyed games like PEAK and RV There Yet?, this upcoming indie game checks all the right boxes for another comic friendslop!
The game is about managing a low-budget airplane with a cabin full of unreasonable passengers. The fun part is, you are not liable for anyone’s safety. This is exactly the kind of game that you send in a group chat at midnight with zero context and spend hours playing it right after.
While the game has not released yet, the trailer itself looks promising enough to make me wishlist it. In this post, I have laid out everything that has been revealed by the devs so far.
Co-op games have been getting some solid multiplayer upgrades across the board lately, and it’s worth seeing how other titles are handling the same idea. To know more, read our article Palworld 1.0 Multiplayer: Voice Chat, Improved Text Chat, and Everything Else That Changed.
Airplane sim with no rules
Not gonna lie, the pitch alone deserves applause. You and your friends work for what the developers themselves openly call “the world’s worst airline.” The plane is falling apart, the cargo is illegal, and according to the Steam page, passenger safety “barely makes the list.” That is not me being dramatic, that is the actual marketing copy, and I respect the honesty.
Don’t like a loud passenger? Throw them out! Cargo getting out of hand? Throw that out the window too! You get the drill, right?
To explain the gameplay simply, one player takes the cockpit and pilots the plane, while everyone else works the cabin, which means:
- Serving meals and drinks to passengers who expect a smooth flight and, per the game’s own tagline, might realistically get “at least two of those three things”
- Choosing which passengers and cargo to bring onboard before takeoff, since bigger payouts tend to come with bigger headaches
- Keeping the cabin from descending into total anarchy once things start going wrong, which they always do

Not every recent game has co-op, though, if you are curious about the recently released SAO-based game. Read our post on Does Echoes Of Aincrad Have Co-Op?
I need to address the crocodiles in the room
This is where Dear Passengers steps right into the definition of crazy and becomes something you’d only attempt with your most chaos-tolerant friends. Weather can turn a routine flight into a full-blown disaster, with turbulence and air pockets flinging passengers, luggage, and anything else that isn’t nailed down around the cabin.
Then there’s the cargo. The trailer itself actually shows crocodiles loose in the cabin mid-flight, alongside bird strikes capable of blowing up an engine entirely. The Steam listing itself is refreshingly blunt about how these situations tend to resolve, noting plainly that “not every solution is elegant, and not every passenger stays onboard.” Make of that what you will.

Kotaku’s coverage also flags proximity chat as part of the experience, which would explain a lot about how chaotic coordinating with your crew could get. It is worth noting, though, FLEXUS hasn’t officially confirmed that as a feature themselves, so treat it as a strong rumor rather than a locked-in mechanic for now. However, looking at the game trailer, the possibility is not too far-fetched, and I, for one, am hoping for it.
Games built entirely around chaos are one thing, but if you enjoy survival games more, read our article on Windrose Roadmap 2026: Full Release Plans, New Biomes, Ships & Story Updates (July 2026).
Who are the creative minds behind this chaos fest?
Here’s the part that surprised me. FLEXUS, the studio behind Dear Passengers, is a Ukraine-based team with zero prior PC releases. Their actual track record is in mobile idle games, which Kotaku reports have collectively racked up hundreds of millions of downloads. Dear Passengers marks the studio’s first real step into PC gaming, which is either a huge gamble or a genuinely exciting swing depending on how you look at it. For me, it is genuinely something worth being put out for the world.
Co-founder Semyon Kozyura previously told Pocket Gamer, regarding the studio’s existing hit Train Minder, that “sometimes feelings matter more than metrics.” For a studio jumping from idle mobile games into a physics-based co-op comedy, that mindset speaks volumes.
And if you are someone who doesn’t like the use of AI in game development, you’d be happy to know the official Steam page carries no generative AI disclaimer.
While the studio is jumping from mobile development to PC. For another popular game title, players are waiting for the game to release on mobile. To know more, read our post When Will Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 Release on Mobile? (Updated July 2026).
Is this actually going to be worth your time?
As I mentioned before, this is going to be a game for a very specific audience who are into unhinged comedy. However, the game is not a standalone in this genre. Dear Passengers is following the footsteps of some heavy hitters like R.E.P.O., PEAK, RV There Yet?, and Meccha Chameleon. And I don’t have to tell you how all these have proven there’s a massive appetite for unpredictable, physics-driven co-op chaos.

So basically, if unpredictable outcomes, forced teamwork, and unhinged actions sound like your thing, chances are this game will be worth your time.
But for now, whether it becomes the next big obsession or just shrinks to a really well-cut trailer remains to be seen. That being said, based purely on the concept, the mechanics, and the sheer commitment to the bit, this one’s already on my wishlist.

With a release window as broad as “2026,” it’s worth keeping an eye on what else you can play before the game lands. To know more, check out our post July 2026 Video Game Calendar: All Major Releases, Platforms, And Highlights.
