Mount Fay in Hollow Knight: Silksong is not a land of battles but of endurance. Its slopes and caverns strip the game down to its essentials: cold, silence, and the demand for mastery of movement. At its core lies Brightvein, a hidden sub-area that gleams with light yet punishes hesitation. Reaching it is as much a test of patience as of skill, but the rewards—both practical and symbolic—make the climb unforgettable.
Where is Brightvein in Silksong?
Brightvein is a secret ice cave found within Mount Fay. True to its name, the cavern glows with crystalline veins, casting a pale brilliance across its frozen platforms. Unlike other areas of Pharloom, Brightvein is not designed as a battlefield. Instead, it serves as a platforming challenge that relies on Hornet’s mobility and precision.
To enter and survive Brightvein, you must first obtain the Clawline, Silk Soar, and the Faydown Cloak—tools that transform the environment from impossible to barely manageable. Enemies appear sparingly, but rather than existing to defeat you, they often function as stepping-stones, part of the climb itself.
Inside, two treasures await:
- A Mask Shard, earned through a punishing vertical ascent.
- The Magnetite Materium entry, hidden near the entrance and adding depth to Pharloom’s mineral lore.
Brightvein is small in size but large in meaning. It condenses Mount Fay’s essence—fragility, brilliance, and endurance—into a single hidden trial.

How to Reach Brightvein in Silksong?
Brightvein is not immediately visible. To find it, you must first unlock the Clawline and the Faydown Cloak, ensuring Hornet can survive the cold that permeates Mount Fay. You will also need Silk Soar to cross otherwise unreachable gaps.
From the eastern Bench in Mount Fay:
- Travel south and west into the mountain’s frozen middle layers.
- Enter the chamber west of the large frozen chasm.
- Spot the rock floating in the icy water below.
- Use Silk Soar to land upon it, then leap forward across the gap.
- Continue west, and the path will open into Brightvein.

The entrance feels deliberate—requiring you to risk the icy waters before rewarding you with discovery.

What Awaits You Inside Brightvein
The cave itself is a condensed trial of platforming. Its ascent demands constant movement, with no room for hesitation:
- Crumbling ice crystals collapse if you linger.
- Enemies appear in mid-air, positioned as living footholds.
- Wide gaps require perfect Silk Soar timing.

The climb culminates in the Mask Shard, a tangible increase to Hornet’s resilience. Meanwhile, tucked quietly to the west of the entrance lies the Magnetite Materium, a collectible that deepens Pharloom’s mineral lore.
