The third Halloween update for 99 Nights in the Forest is finally here, and it’s bringing a brand-new challenge: The Hedge Maze. From carnival minigames and creepy corridors to new class unlocks and exclusive rewards, this event packs a ton of surprises for survivors looking to make the most of spooky season.

What’s New in the Hedge Maze Update

The Hedge Maze Update marks the final part of the Halloween trilogy in 99 Nights in the Forest. Following the Potion Making and Trick or Treat updates, this patch introduces:

  • A new Carnival area with three playable minigames.
  • The Haunted Hedge Maze, a mysterious labyrinth filled with loot and enemies.
  • The new Vampire class, offering nighttime buffs and lifesteal abilities.
  • A refreshed Halloween Shop, featuring exclusive limited-time cosmetics and items.

Once you reach Day 3 in your run, a message appears on-screen: “The Carnival is in town!” That’s your cue to head out and find it. You’ll hear eerie carnival music echoing through the forest, signaling the start of the event.

How to Unlock the Haunted Hedge Maze

The Haunted Maze is located right next to the Carnival grounds, but its gate is locked until you earn three Carnival Tickets.

To collect them, you’ll need to complete each of the Carnival’s three games:

Carnival GameGoalReward
Ring TossScore 3 points by landing rings on bottles1 Carnival Ticket
BasketballScore 3 baskets before the timer ends1 Carnival Ticket
Shooting RangeHit 5 moving targets with the Air Rifle1 Carnival Ticket

Once all three tickets are earned, the Maze gate automatically unlocks. You don’t have to manually “use” the tickets — just having them is enough to trigger entry.

Tip: Try completing the games during the daytime. Deer become active at night, and they can make the Carnival area much harder to navigate.

How to Beat the Haunted Hedge Maze

Once unlocked, interact with the large iron gate to enter the Haunted Maze. Be warned: you can’t immediately exit, you’ll need to find your way to the end first.

Preparation Tips:

  • Bring Bandages and Weapons: Wolves and an Alpha Wolf lurk inside.
  • Pack Food or Stews: You’ll spend time exploring and looting, which drains hunger.
  • Enter during Daytime: Visibility is better, and you’ll avoid nocturnal creatures like Deer.

Maze Navigation:

  • Follow red arrows on the hedge walls: some are misleading, but others guide you closer to the end.
  • If you’re lost, use the right-hand rule: stick to the right-hand wall and keep walking; it’ll eventually lead you out.
  • Dead ends often hide loot chests, which contain 4–6 Candies or consumables.
  • You may find a Costume Booth, where you can change into a Halloween outfit.

At the maze’s center lies an Alpha Wolf guarding a coffin. Defeat it, then press and hold E to open the coffin and claim a special weapon, usually a Scythe or Bouncing Blade. Behind it, a wooden hatch lets you exit safely back into the forest.

New Vampire Class

The update also adds the Vampire Class, a permanent addition purchasable for 600 Gems. This class grants:

  • Nighttime movement speed boost
  • Lifesteal abilities during combat
  • Scaling bonuses based on class tier

It’s perfect for players who prefer exploring or fighting after dark, especially useful in late-game nights when enemies become more aggressive.

New Halloween Shop Items

The Halloween Shop returns for its final week, run by Happy in the lobby. Items marked with a (clock) icon are temporary and disappear once the event ends.
