Palworld: How to Get High Quality Pal Oil in 1.0 (Best Farming Locations and Ranch Method)

Getting High Quality Pal Oil in Palworld can be particularly challenging, especially if you don’t know the reliable source for it. But it is an important game progression step, as this oil is one of those materials that gates a lot of mid-game crafting, from Polymer to advanced firearms. And so figuring out the fastest way to farm it makes a real difference.

Whether you’re playing on PC in the US or on console somewhere in the UK, here’s every method I’ve confirmed for getting it consistently in 1.0 release.

This isn’t the only farmable material with its own quirks either, our guide on Palworld: Where to Find Nightstar Sand in 1.0 (Locations, Farming Tips, and the Glowing Bug) covers a similarly specific farming loop.

The Best Way: Get It Passively by Ranching a Dumud

The easiest and the long-term method doesn’t involve fighting anything at all. You can simply put Dumud to the task. This pal can produce High Quality Pal Oil while working in your base’s Ranch. All you need to do is follow these simple steps, and you are good to go:

  • Build a Ranch (requires Player Level 5, plus 50 Wood, 20 Stone, and 30 Fiber).
  • Lift a Dumud and place it inside the Ranch.
  • Leave it assigned and go about your usual gameplay.
  • Check back periodically, since Dumud can produce oil in as little as five minutes per cycle.

Yes! That’s all it takes. However, if you want to scale up production, assigning more than one Dumud to the same Ranch increases your output. This is by far the most efficient method if you’d rather not repeatedly fight the same Pals for drops.

If you’d like your Ranch producing at peak efficiency, it’s worth checking whether any of your base Pals have picked up Lavish Hospitality, since our guide on Lavish Hospitality Passive Skill and Effect in Palworld 1.0: How to Get It and What It Does? explains exactly what it boosts and how to unlock it.

If You are a Spender: Buy It Directly from Wandering Merchants

If you need High Quality Pal Oil quickly and don’t mind spending Gold, Wandering Merchants sell it for 300 Gold each. I hunted down one reliable merchant who can be found near the Duneshelter Fast Travel Point, at coordinates (358, 350).

However, Wandering Merchants aren’t tied to one location permanently. So, once again, the ranch method will come to your rescue in the long run.

Farm It from Specific Pals

Dumud ain’t the only one you can confide in; there are also other pals who can produce High Quality Pal Oil for you. It drops from a fairly wide list of Pals, though not all of them are equally practical to hunt. The pals I could confirm to drop this item includes:

  • Digtoise
  • Dumud and Dumud Gild
  • Eidrolon and Eidrolon Ignis
  • Elphidran and Elphidran Aqua
  • Flambelle
  • Grintale
  • Jormuntide Ignis
  • Loomen
  • Mammorest and Mammorest Cryst
  • Ophydia
  • Quivern and Quivern Botan
  • Relaxaurus and Relaxaurus Lux
  • Sibelyx Primo
  • Snock Lux
  • Solmora and Solmora Lux
  • Woolipop
  • Xenogard

For newer players, Woolipop, Digtoise, and Dumud are the most manageable options on this list, since the rest tend to require a much stronger build to fight safely.

Meanwhile, if you’re specifically farming Relaxaurus, using Cryolinx as your active Pal helps a lot. Its Partner Skill, Dragon Hunter, increases the amount of items Dragon-type Pals drop when defeated, which applies directly to Relaxaurus. You can also level up that Partner Skill through the Pal Essence Condenser for even better results.

If you’d rather maximize each individual kill instead of relying on a Partner Skill, catching a Pal first and then butchering it gives you the initial catch drop plus an additional oil drop from butchering. Butchering requires the meat cleaver, which unlocks at level 12.

Best Locations to Farm High Quality Pal Oil

Here are the most precise locations I could find where you can find these pals and collect the Pal oil resource:

LocationCoordinatesBest Pals Found HereNotes
South of Anubis Alpha Boss(-89, -123)Dumud, DigtoiseDesert area with frequent spawns
North of Mount Obsidian Midpoint(-478, -392)FlambelleGroups spawn near the volcano’s lava area
Near Sealed Realm of the Thunder Dragon(-194, -352)Relaxaurus, Relaxaurus LuxRelaxaurus spawns constantly here
Central Map Region(-253, -402)RelaxaurusRelaxaurus spawn in packs of two to three, each dropping four to eight oil, and are level 30 to 34 here
North of Windscream ValleyMid-map, northwest of starting areaDumudGood mid-game Dumud source
Isle of MurmursNorthwest regionDumud (level-14 boss)Guaranteed Dumud spawn, but tricky to reach without a flying mount

Since Relaxaurus hits fairly hard, especially in the level 30 to 34 range found in the central map region, it’s worth bringing decent gear before engaging a pack of two or three at once. The desert route near Anubis is generally the gentler option if you’re still early game, though you’ll need heat-resistant gear to survive there safely.

If you’re farming this area with a squad, it’s worth confirming everyone can actually join the same world first, and our guide on Is Palworld Crossplay in 2026? Full Cross-Platform Guide for PC, PS5, and Xbox covers what’s currently supported.

What High Quality Pal Oil Is Used For

High Quality Pal Oil shows up in a long list of crafting recipes, but there are a few standout reasons you will want to collect this oil for:

ItemRequirements
Polymer2x High Quality Pal Oil, 1x Sulfur
Musket25x Ingot, 5x High Quality Pal Oil, 3x Wooden Board
Makeshift Handgun35x Ingot, 10x High Quality Pal Oil, 30x Fiber
Weapon Assembly Line100x Ingot, 20x Wooden Board, 20x Nail, 10x High Quality Pal Oil

Since Polymer itself requires High Quality Pal Oil, and Polymer is needed for items like Circuit Boards, Refrigerators, and the Electric Furnace, this one material ends up feeding into a large chunk of the mid-to-late-game tech tree. It’s also required for several pieces of armor, including V1 Armor and Legendary Plasteel Armor, along with saddles like the Mammorest Saddle.

Honestly, High Quality Pal Oil isn’t hard to get once you know where to look; it just requires either a bit of leveling first or a Ranch set up early on so the oil gets stored while you’re doing other things.

If you’re stockpiling other rare materials at the same time, our guide on Palworld: How to Get Ancient Bone in 1.0 (Wildlife Sanctuary Location and Mining Guide) is worth pairing with a Relaxaurus farming run since both areas reward a bit of exploring off the beaten path.

I put everything I recommend and learned from speaking with fellow Palworld players into this guide. However, I will update it if I find any alternative build to get this oil more efficiently.

I hope this guide helped you in your gameplay. I will see you in the next one!
