If you have been trying to play Palworld with friends on a different platform, you are in luck. Palworld does support crossplay, and it works across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. However, it has not always been that way, and there are a few things worth knowing before you dive in with your squad.
This guide covers everything confirmed by developer Pocketpair about Palworld crossplay, how to enable it, which platforms it works on, and what limitations still exist as of 2026.
Does Palworld Support Crossplay?
Yes, Palworld supports crossplay. Developer Pocketpair introduced full cross-platform multiplayer as part of the v0.5.0 update, which launched on 19 March 2025. That update brought PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox players together for the first time, meaning you can now join friends regardless of which platform they play on.
Before v0.5.0, crossplay was only available between PC and Xbox. PS5 players were left out because PlayStation did not yet have dedicated server support at that point. That limitation no longer applies following the March 2025 update.
Which Platforms Does Palworld Crossplay Support?
Palworld crossplay currently works across the following platforms:
- PC (Steam)
- PC (Game Pass)
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox
- Mac (dedicated server support added in v0.5.0)
All five of these platforms can connect and play together. Nintendo Switch is not part of this list, and given the ongoing legal situation between Nintendo and Pocketpair, a Switch version of Palworld is not on the horizon.
When Did Palworld Crossplay Launch?
Pocketpair officially rolled out Palworld crossplay on 19 March 2025 with the v0.5.0 update. This was a major update for the game that also introduced several other features alongside crossplay, including the Global Palbox, the Dimensional Pal Storage, and a Cosmetic Armour System.
The crossplay feature had been in demand from the community for a long time, particularly from PS5 players who previously had limited options for playing with PC friends.
What Else Did the v0.5.0 Update Add?
The v0.5.0 update was one of the biggest patches Palworld has received. Alongside crossplay, Pocketpair confirmed the following additions:
New Features:
- Global Palbox: Store Pal data in the Global Palbox and transfer Pals between different worlds.
- Dimensional Pal Storage: A new storage system with ten times the capacity of a regular Palbox. Guild members can access it, and players can also set it to private.
- Cosmetic Armour System: Equip armour cosmetically through the Antique Dresser to change your character’s appearance without affecting your armour stats.
- Photo Mode: Accessible from the Pal Command Wheel. You can hide the UI and move the camera freely to capture screenshots.
- Drafting Table: Combine low-rarity blueprints to craft higher-rarity ones.
- Dedicated Servers for Mac
Specification Adjustments:
- Buildings can now be placed even if they overlap with a Pal.
- Ice Pals assigned to the Flea Market will slow down item decay in storage and sales.
- Players can now sit on chairs and cushions.
- Torches now appear at the entrances of random dungeons for better visibility.
Balance Adjustments:
- Elemental chest rewards have been adjusted. Dog Coins will always drop from these chests and they also have a small chance of containing work suitability books.
- EXP gained from defeating the Attack Chopper has been increased.
- Flamethrower DPS has been increased.
- Summoned raid bosses can no longer damage other bases.
- Water attribute has been added to Dumud.
- NPC event rewards have been adjusted, and all NPC conversation logs have been reset so players can claim rewards again.
How to Enable Crossplay in Palworld
Enabling crossplay in Palworld is straightforward, and only the player hosting the session needs to make any changes. The player joining does not need to adjust any settings. Here is exactly how to turn it on:

- Select the multiplayer world you plan to play on.
- Click the “Change World Settings” button at the bottom of the screen.
- Find the “Cross-Play” toggle and switch it on.
You can follow the same steps to turn crossplay off if you prefer to keep your session limited to a single platform. The setting applies to both new worlds and existing ones, so you do not need to start a fresh save to take advantage of it.
Once crossplay is active, players on Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC can join each other’s sessions, visit each other’s bases, and share Pals using the Global Palbox.
How Does Crossplay Work on Dedicated Servers?
Dedicated servers in Palworld support crossplay between PC, PS5, Xbox, and Mac by default. Server hosts do not need to make any specific changes unless they want to restrict certain platforms from joining. As long as the platform settings on the server have not been altered, players from all supported platforms can connect without any issues.
Can You Join a PS5 World From PC Using a Friend Code?
Yes, you can join a PS5 player’s session from PC using an invite code. The PS5 host opens their world and shares a friend code, which the PC player can then use to join. This method works for cooperative local sessions. However, note that not all connection methods behave identically across platforms, so using the direct invite code approach is currently the most reliable way to connect PS5 and PC players in the same session.
How Much Does Palworld Cost?
You can purchase Palworld on Steam for around $29.99 USD in US without discount. Pricing varies by region, so you can check the current price directly on the official Steam page or through the Xbox store depending on your platform.
Palworld launched into Early Access on 19 January 2024, developed by Pocketpair.
Palworld has come a long way since its Early Access launch, and the addition of full crossplay support across PC, PS5, and Xbox is one of the most significant quality-of-life improvements Pocketpair has delivered. Whether you play on Steam, console, or Mac, you can now jump into the same world as your friends regardless of platform.
