Pragmata “Can I Borrow That?” Achievement: How to Unlock It

Pragmata is Capcom’s sci-fi action game set on the moon, where hacking enemies is just as important as shooting them. The “Can I Borrow That?” achievement sits right at that intersection, requiring you to use the hacking system tactically to confuse a specific enemy and steal its shield. It sounds simple enough, but without knowing exactly where to go and how the Confuse node works in the hacking sequence, plenty of players either miss the moment or fumble through it. Here is everything you need to unlock it cleanly on your first attempt.

What Enemy Do You Need to Target?

The “certain enemy” the achievement description refers to is a Defender Bot. This is a large bot that carries four shields at the front and can throw them as projectiles during combat, making it both a defensive and offensive threat. You encounter this enemy type for the first time in Lunum Mines 03, specifically the Warehouse area, which falls in Sector 4 of the game.

Destroying the Defender Bot’s shields early in the fight has two benefits: it removes those shields as blockers inside the hacking matrix, and it also reduces the bot’s ability to throw them at you, making the fight considerably safer.

You cannot unlock this achievement before reaching this point, so there is no need to rush it. Simply progress through the story and the opportunity will arrive naturally.

What Is the Confuse Hacking Node?

The Confuse node is a hacking mod that, when activated during a hack sequence, causes the targeted enemy to become confused and hand over its shield. Rather than dealing direct damage, it manipulates enemy behaviour, which is exactly what this achievement requires.

You will receive access to the Confuse mod through normal story progression, with it becoming available at Shelter Level 2. However, to permanently unlock it and equip it freely, you also need to purchase it from the shop for 100 Lunafilaments. Make sure you have done this before heading into the Warehouse encounter.

The only strict prerequisites for this achievement are:

  • Having the Confuse Hacking Node equipped in your hacking loadout
  • Reaching the Defender Bot in Lunum Mines 03 and successfully routing through the Confuse node during the hacking sequence

No other crafting or progression requirements are needed beyond reaching this point in the story.

Step-by-Step: How to Unlock “Can I Borrow That?”

Step 1: Purchase and Equip the Confuse Hacking Node

Before you reach the Warehouse encounter, head back to the Shelter and spend 100 Lunafilaments at the shop to permanently unlock the Confuse node. Once purchased, equip it in your active hacking loadout. Without it equipped, the achievement cannot trigger regardless of how the fight goes.

Step 2: Use the Save Room Before the Warehouse

There is a save room directly before the Warehouse encounter in Lunum Mines 03. Save your game here before proceeding. This gives you a clean fallback point if the hack fails or you get interrupted during the sequence.

Step 3: Clear the Flying Turret

Upon entering the Warehouse area, you will face a flying turret before the Defender Bot appears. Clear it first to ensure you are not splitting your attention when the main encounter begins.

Step 4: Destroy Enough of the Defender Bot’s Shields

The Defender Bot’s four shields serve a dual purpose: they protect the bot in combat, and they also act as blockers within the hacking matrix, potentially cutting off the path to the Confuse node. You need to destroy enough of them to open a clear route to the Confuse node in the grid.

Fire Grip Gun rounds into the centre node of each shield to destroy them. As you damage each shield, watch which red area of the hacking matrix flashes in response. This tells you which path is opening up and helps you confirm you are clearing the right shields to reach the Confuse node.

Destroying the shields early also directly reduces the Defender Bot’s ability to throw them at you during the fight, making the encounter considerably safer as well as opening the hacking matrix path.

You do not need to destroy all four. Destroy enough to open the path, then move on to the hack.

Step 5: Position Yourself on Elevated Ground

Before initiating the hack, jump onto a nearby crate or elevated surface. This creates distance between you and the Defender Bot, reducing the chance of being hit or interrupted mid-sequence. Staying at ground level leaves you vulnerable to the bot’s shield throws, which can disrupt the hack at a critical moment.

Step 6: Initiate the Hack and Navigate to the Confuse Node

Start the hacking sequence. During the hack, you physically move your cursor through the hacking grid to reach the Confuse node. The grid requires precise navigation, so take a moment to identify the route before committing. Move your cursor deliberately through the cleared grid paths and run over the Confuse node to activate it. Each shield you destroyed earlier corresponds to a removed blocker in the matrix, so the cleaner your prep work, the more direct your route to the node will be.

Timing and alignment matter here, as missing the node means the hack will resolve without triggering the confusion effect.

Step 7: Collect the Shield

Once the Confuse node activates successfully at the end of the hacking sequence, the Defender Bot will automatically hand over its shield. The achievement unlocks at this exact moment.

Can You Miss This Achievement?

No. If you reach the Warehouse and fail to unlock the achievement during your first encounter, the Defender Bot also reappears in Unknown Signal Mode, the post-game mode that unlocks after completing the story once. This gives you a second opportunity to attempt it without starting over. However, attempting it during your first natural encounter in Lunum Mines 03 is the most straightforward approach, especially with the save room right before the fight.
