How to Get Pets in Grow a Garden 2
Pets spawn randomly at the centre of the map in Grow a Garden 2, between the market stalls and your garden plot. Each pet has a timer above its head, and once that timer hits zero, it despawns. So when you spot one you want, move quickly.
To claim a pet, walk up to it and interact with it. The purchase price displays above the pet’s head, and you pay for it using Sheckles, the main in-game currency. However, the process does not end there. Before your new pet reaches your garden, another player can intercept it by paying twice the amount you paid, so keep an eye out until it safely arrives.
Once it reaches your garden, the pet enters your inventory. From there, open your backpack, equip the pet, and add it to your active party to start benefiting from its ability.
Beyond map spawns, you can also obtain pets through the following methods:
- Guild eggs: You receive Common Eggs as rewards for joining a Guild. Hatching these gives you a random chance at pets including the Frog, Bunny, Deer, Robin, Bee, Unicorn, Golden Dragonfly, and Raccoon.
- Guild leaderboard rewards: The Black Dragon and Ice Serpent are obtainable as direct Guild rewards. The Ice Serpent also has mutated variants, including Rainbow, Big, Big Rainbow, Mega, and Mega Rainbow versions, which become available as you climb higher on the Guild leaderboard.
How Many Pet Slots Do You Get in Grow a Garden 2?
By default, every player starts with 3 pet slots in Grow a Garden 2. However, you can expand this by spending Sheckles to unlock additional slots.
| Pet Slots | Cost |
| +1 slot (Total: 4) | 200,000 Sheckles |
| +2 slots (Total: 5) | 1,000,000 Sheckles |
Which Pets Should You Get First in Grow a Garden 2?
With 14 pets to choose from and limited Sheckles in the early game, it pays to be selective. Here are the strongest picks depending on what your garden needs most:
- Bunny: The walk speed boost makes it much easier to move around the map quickly, which is particularly useful if you want to steal from other gardens or reach pets before they despawn.
- Deer: A solid early pick for any player focused on growing and selling produce. The 10% plant growth speed boost stacks and helps you turn crops into Sheckles faster.
- Bee: The best defensive option in the game for public servers. If you spend time away from your garden, the Bee keeps thieves at bay while you explore.
However, if you are playing on a private server where stealing is not a concern, the Bee becomes much less valuable. In that case, prioritising the Deer or saving up for the Monkey to automate your harvest makes far more sense.
