99 Nights in the Forest: Volcanic Biome Update Guide

A Roblox player character stands on a fiery volcanic landscape, holding the glowing red Inferno Sword, a new weapon from the 99 Nights in the Forest Volcanic Biome update.

The world of 99 Nights in the Forest has erupted in fire and shadow. With its newest Volcanic Biome update, Roblox players are stepping into an environment far more dangerous than the familiar snow-covered landscapes it temporarily replaces. Lava rivers cut through jagged terrain, cultists gather in fiery ritual, and new items shimmer like molten treasure in the gloom.

If you’ve been wandering the forest since the early days, this update is one of the most transformative yet. Here’s a deep dive into everything the Volcanic Biome event introduces — from rare loot and menacing entities to secrets hidden within the Volcano itself.

What Is the Volcanic Biome Update in 99 Nights in the Forest?

The Volcanic Biome is a brand-new environment in 99 Nights in the Forest, available for a limited two-week period before joining the permanent biome rotation. During this time, the snow biome disappears, leaving players to survive against volcanic terrain, eruptive hazards, and enemies born of fire.

It’s more than just a new backdrop — the biome redefines how you approach exploration, combat, and survival. Expect to fight cultists, harvest infernal loot, and even feed the volcano itself.

Items Introduced in the Volcanic Biome Update

Surviving the volcano requires firepower — literally. This update brings a set of unique tools and consumables:

  • Inferno Sword – A fiery blade that ignites enemies and cooks consumables on contact.
  • Wildfire Potion – A throwable flask that spawns pools of lava where it lands.
  • Infernal Sack – A 20-slot bag that auto-cooks raw food items.
  • Crossbow – A ranged weapon with infinite ammunition, perfect for holding off swarms.

Each of these is obtainable from Infernal Chests, hidden across the volcanic landscape.

New Entities: Who You’ll Face

The forest has always been dangerous, but the Volcanic Biome adds new threats:

  • Mega Cultist – A towering foe tied to the volcanic rituals.
  • Scorpions – Numerous, venomous, and the bane of every badge hunter.

Both enemies play a crucial role in progressing through the biome’s challenges.

Locations and Mechanics

The Volcanic Biome is more than lava and fire; it’s layered with unique locations and mechanics:

  • The Volcano – A central structure where players can perform the Cultist Gem Ritual. By sacrificing eight entities into the volcano’s “eye,” you ignite eight gem squares and earn a Cultist Gem.
  • Ammo Furnace – A massive forge guarded by cultists. Light it using nearby fuel to mass-produce Ammo Boxes — a critical step for unlocking the Metaworking Badge.
  • Infernal Chests – Scattered through the biome, containing rare items like the Inferno Sword and Wildfire Potion.

Badges to Unlock

The update brings four new achievements, each pushing players to experiment with the biome’s mechanics:

  • Resourcefulness – Drop a fallen teammate into the Volcano.
  • Pest Control – Kill 100 scorpions.
  • Metaworking – Craft 50 Ammo Boxes at the Ammo Furnace.
  • Volcanology – Perform 150 sacrifices at the Volcano.

Each badge encourages replay and creative survival strategies, making the volcanic event more than just a visual update.

Event Duration and Next Update

The Volcanic Biome event runs for two weeks, from September 14 to September 20, 2025. After this period, it will no longer dominate the map but instead join the pool of random biomes players can encounter.

The developers have also confirmed a Part 2 of the update, launching on September 20, 2025. While details are scarce, expect new mechanics and possibly even greater volcanic threats.
