Eleven years after the original had players screaming at their TVs and blaming their friends for every bad decision, the sequel is finally here, and it brought a seriously stacked cast with it. We are talking Stranger Things alumni, a Baldur’s Gate 3 legend, Cobra Kai fan favourites, and one very familiar psychiatrist who clearly has not finished asking uncomfortable questions. Developers Behind Until Dawn 2
Until Dawn 2 is developed by Firesprite, a British studio previously known for Horizon Call of the Mountain and The Persistence. The original Until Dawn was developed by Supermassive Games in 2015, however Firesprite now takes the reins for this sequel. This is the biggest narrative project the studio has taken on to date.

The sequel follows a group of ghost hunter influencers who run a paranormal channel called Dead True. Their scares have always been staged for views, however everything changes when they visit Akashina Island, an abandoned location with a mysterious corporate history. What starts as content creation quickly turns into a genuine fight for survival. The game carries the tagline “Everyone can live. Everyone can die,” meaning every choice the player makes carries real consequences for the characters.

The Returning Face: Peter Stormare as Dr. Alan J. Hill
Peter Stormare is the one confirmed returning presence from the original game. He reprises his role as Dr. Alan J. Hill, the enigmatic psychiatrist who observed and questioned the player’s choices throughout the first game. His appearance in the Until Dawn 2 trailer confirms a direct narrative thread connecting both games, and fans have noticed his final line in the trailer appears to reference Sam, a survivor from the original story.
Standout Cast Members to Know
Dacre Montgomery is one of the most recognisable faces in the trailer. Best known for playing Billy Hargrove in Stranger Things, Montgomery appears as a content creator character seen filming on the island with a bloody nose.
Neil Newbon brings serious gaming pedigree to the sequel. He voiced Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, a performance that earned enormous praise, and his likeness in Until Dawn 2 is notably faithful. Fans recognised him almost immediately in the trailer.
Tanner Buchanan and Hannah Kepple are both Cobra Kai alumni, which makes their shared casting a fun nod for fans of the show. Kepple’s character Josie appears to be in a relationship with Leatherwood’s character Luke.
Janina Gavankar is another strong voice acting and performance capture veteran. She played Iden Versio in Star Wars Battlefront II and appears in The Morning Show. Her involvement was confirmed when she shared the news directly on her Instagram.
How Does the Until Dawn 2 Cast Connect to the Original?
The original Until Dawn featured Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere in lead roles, among others. The sequel moves to a completely new cast, which makes sense given the nature of the first game’s story. However, the 2024 remake of Until Dawn added a new post-credits scene showing Sam waking in a red-lit room as Dr. Hill’s voice calls her name. This scene connects directly to the trailer for Until Dawn 2, where the same red lighting and Dr. Hill’s presence appear. Whether Sam herself will appear in the sequel remains unconfirmed.
Until Dawn 2 launches on PlayStation 5 in 2027. No specific release date or pricing has been announced yet. Sony has not confirmed a PC version at this stage, though the original game did eventually come to PC.
