God of War Laufey

The show-closer and the biggest announcement of the night. Santa Monica Studio revealed God of War Laufey, a new chapter in the God of War series starring Faye, warrior wife of Kratos, as she awakens in the afterlife of the gods following her funeral. The reveal included a 20-minute gameplay showcase, making it one of the most substantial first reveals in recent gaming history.

Deborah Ann Woll reprises her role as Faye. She is joined by Jack Quaid as Phranque, a cosmic cube companion, and Perlina Lau as Rue, an enchanted ribbon guardian who entrusts Faye with a legendary sword.

The game takes place in a realm called the Everywhen, described as the birthplace and endpoint of all magic, where gods from multiple mythologies including Egyptian and Asian traditions coexist. Gameplay focuses on fast, agile sword combat with aerial mobility and a soul-manipulation ability tied to Faye’s Golden Hand of the Jötnar power.

No official release date has been confirmed, though Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier indicated shortly after the reveal that the game is “not years away” and ruled out 2028.

Marvel’s Wolverine

The State of Play opened with an extended gameplay look at Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac Games’ upcoming PS5 exclusive.
