LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight launched on May 22, 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and it has already generated serious buzz for its deep comic-book references. The game landed with a Metacritic score in the 84 to 85 range and sold around 1.2 million copies in its first week, making it one of the stronger launches in the LEGO Games series in recent years. One character drawing a lot of attention from DC fans is Red Hood, and the burning question is whether Jason Todd shows up as a playable character. Here is the confirmed answer, and everything else you need to know about Red Hood’s role in the game.

Is Jason Todd’s Red Hood Playable in LEGO Batman?

No. Jason Todd’s version of Red Hood is not a playable character in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The game’s confirmed playable roster focuses on the core Gotham City heroes, and Jason Todd does not appear among them.

The seven confirmed playable characters are:

CharacterAliasUnlocked By
BatmanBruce WayneStart of game
RobinDick GraysonHaly’s Circus mission
BatgirlBarbara GordonFirefly mission
NightwingDick GraysonMr. Freeze mission
CatwomanSelina KyleShreck’s Department Store mission
Jim GordonN/ANew Beginnings mission
Talia al GhulN/ATumbler Chase mission

As you can see, Jason Todd does not feature anywhere in that lineup. So if you were hoping to play as the Red Hood from the Arkham Knight era of Batman lore, the base game does not offer that right now.

So Which Red Hood Is Actually in the Game?

This is where things get interesting for DC fans. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight does feature Red Hood, but it is the original Red Hood from classic Batman comic mythology, not Jason Todd.

The game draws heavily from the legendary Joker origin story, where a mysterious masked criminal known as Red Hood One is connected to a chemical plant accident that ultimately creates the Joker. This is the version of Red Hood that appears in the game.

Players encounter Red Hood during Mission 5, titled “The Red Hood Gang,” which takes place at the iconic ACE Chemicals facility on Tricorner Island. It is one of the most story-rich missions in the entire campaign, weaving together puzzle-solving, combat, stealth sections, and platforming across the hazardous chemical processing plant. The mission also delivers one of the game’s first major cinematic moments through a dramatic pursuit involving Red Hood One himself.

ACE Chemicals carries enormous weight in Batman mythology due to its direct ties to the Joker’s creation, and the game fully commits to that legacy throughout the level. Chemical vats, the gang’s distinctive masked costumes, environmental storytelling, and multiple callbacks to classic Batman comic arcs all make this mission stand out. Reviewers have specifically praised The Red Hood Gang mission for its cinematic quality and how faithfully it handles the Joker origin lore, and it has become one of the most discussed sections of the campaign since launch.

Is the Red Hood Gang Version Playable?

No. Red Hood One and the Red Hood Gang are not part of the playable character roster. Their appearances remain tied to story missions and enemy encounters within the campaign. Red Hood One functions as a story-focused antagonist for that portion of the game rather than a character you can freely select and play.

Can You Go Back and Replay the Red Hood Mission?

Yes. Once you complete The Red Hood Gang mission, you can return to it at any time through the Mission Select menu. This is genuinely useful because ACE Chemicals is packed with hidden collectibles and optional objectives that are easy to miss on a first run. Replaying in free-roam mode with different characters also opens up new angles for solving puzzles and reaching areas that were blocked during the story. No major bugs affecting Red Hood content or the ACE Chemicals mission have been reported since launch, so you should have a clean experience revisiting it.

Is a Jason Todd Red Hood DLC Planned?

There has been no official confirmation of a Jason Todd Red Hood DLC pack at the time of writing. The Deluxe Edition of the game does include a post-launch content collection called the Mayhem Collection, arriving in September 2026, which adds Joker and Harley Quinn as playable characters along with a new story mission set in Arkham Asylum. However, nothing in the confirmed DLC roadmap references Jason Todd or a modern Red Hood character pack.

The Deluxe Edition’s current confirmed content beyond the base game is:

Legacy Collection (Available at Launch)

  • Arkham Trilogy Pack: 7 outfits, Batman: Arkham Trilogy Batmobile, 5 Batcave props
  • Batman Beyond Pack: 7 outfits, Batman Beyond Batmobile, 5 Batcave props
  • Party Music Pack: 7 outfits, Monster Truck Batmobile, 5 Batcave props

Mayhem Collection (Available September 2026)

  • New Mayhem Mode with Joker and Harley Quinn as fully playable characters
  • New Story Mission set at Arkham Asylum
  • Sinister Pack: 7 new suits, 5 Batcave props, 1 new Batmobile

None of this confirms Jason Todd. If TT Games or Warner Bros. Games announce a Red Hood character pack, we will update this article accordingly.
