Three Magic: The Gathering cards from the Goblin Storm deck including Zada, Hedron Grinder, Krenko, Mob Boss, and Pashalik Mons with Wizard of Barge art.

The Secret Lair Commander Deck: Goblin Storm is Magic: The Gathering’s latest ready-to-play Commander precon, and it looks like an absolute riot. Designed around Goblins and the Storm mechanic, this mono-red deck promises chaos, big turns, and a whole lot of tiny creatures causing maximum mayhem.

Release Date: When Does Goblin Storm Launch?

Secret Lair Commander Deck: Goblin Storm launches on May 18, 2026, at 9:00 AM PST / 12:00 PM EST.

The deck goes live exclusively on the Secret Lair storefront at MagicSecretLair.com, and based on previous Secret Lair releases, it will sell while supplies last. That means you should log on early and be ready to queue, because these drops tend to move fast.

Price: How Much Does Goblin Storm Cost?

The deck is priced at $149.99 USD.

That is notably cheaper than previous Secret Lair Commander decks, which typically ran closer to $200. However, the value packed inside makes the price point even more compelling. According to deck valuations, the cards alone carry an estimated market value of around $350, and that figure does not even factor in the new exclusive artwork. Standout high-value cards include:

  • Roaming Throne (foil versions can fetch up to $90)
  • Goblin Lackey (around $30)
  • Seething Song, Ruby Medallion, Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep, and Throne of Eldraine

All single orders over $99 also ship free directly from Secret Lair.

Where to Buy Goblin Storm

You can purchase the Secret Lair Commander Deck: Goblin Storm exclusively through the Secret Lair Marketplace at MagicSecretLair.com. It will not be available through regular retail channels, so the Secret Lair storefront is your only option.

You can sign up for a notification alert on the Secret Lair website right now, so you get a heads-up the moment it goes live on May 18.

Who Designed This Deck?

Goblin Storm was designed by Wizards of the Coast’s own Carmen Klomparens and Eli Rice, with all new card artwork handled by fan-favourite illustrator Wizard of Barge, who is well known in the Magic community for their playful, expressive goblin art style.

How Does the Deck Play?

The core strategy of Goblin Storm is exactly what the name suggests: flood the board with Goblins and then storm off with a chain of spells that copies itself for each spell cast before it that turn.

The Storm mechanic appears on four key cards in the deck:

  • Empty the Warrens (creates Goblin tokens)
  • Grapeshot (deals damage)
  • Haze of Rage (pumps your creatures)
  • Spreading Insurrection (steals creatures)

Zada, Hedron Grinder acts as the engine that supercharges everything. When you cast a single-target spell on Zada, it copies that spell for every creature you control. So casting Daring Discovery on Zada means every creature you control triggers a Discover 4, which chains directly into more spells and more storm count. The snowball effect can get genuinely explosive very quickly.

Supporting the engine is a strong mana acceleration suite, including Seething Song, Brightstone Ritual, Battle Hymn, and Mana Geyser, all of which let you unload a massive number of spells in a single turn.

Is Goblin Storm Worth Buying?

At $149.99, the deck offers strong value for a ready-to-play Commander experience, especially for anyone who enjoys aggressive, high-energy gameplay. The estimated card value sits around $350 before accounting for new art, previous Secret Lair Commander decks cost considerably more, and the Wizard of Barge artwork throughout gives the entire package a cohesive and genuinely unique look.

The deck launches May 18, 2026, exclusively on MagicSecretLair.com, and given the buzz around it, acting quickly on release day is a smart move.
