Rockstar Games may have just given GTA 6 fans another tiny piece of Leonida to obsess over — and then immediately tried to take it back.
A promotional image for the $399.99 Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection briefly displayed several location names on the Leonida map included with the merchandise set. Fans spotted names including Sandbars and Crude Islands, while two other labels appeared to begin with “Dra” and “Beld.” Rockstar later replaced the image, removing the readable labels while leaving the island outlines intact.
And, well… the internet had already done what the internet does. Screenshots of the original artwork were captured and shared before the change, meaning the names were already circulating through the GTA 6 community.
The discovery does not mean Rockstar has officially revealed a new section of the GTA 6 map. But it does offer another intriguing look at how much of Leonida may be sitting behind the curtain.
Rockstar’s $399.99 GTA 6 Collector’s Box secretly contained a map clue
Rockstar announced the Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection on September 24, 2026. Despite fans and some reports referring to it as a Collector’s Edition, Rockstar officially describes it as a premium Collector’s Box and makes one detail very clear: Grand Theft Auto VI is sold separately.
The collection costs $399.99 and contains 11 pieces of GTA 6-themed merchandise:
- Macca the Gator figure
- Oakley Frogskins sunglasses
- Leonida Keys crossbody bag
- New Era 9FORTY snapback hat
- Macca the Gator magnetic mirror
- Chunkee the Manatee shot glass
- Vice City collectible swizzle spoon
- Vice City razor blade-style keychain
- Leonida Keys enamel pin set in a metal tin
- Leonida Keys sticker pack in a stash bag
- Double-sided souvenir poster featuring a map of Leonida
The Rockstar Store lists the box at 19 x 13.5 x 12.5 inches and describes the poster as a double-sided souvenir piece. One side features illustrated Vice City/Leonida artwork, while the reverse provides a full illustrated view of the Leonida map. Rockstar even pitches it as something fans can use to “Plan a road trip to every corner of the Goodtime State.”
That innocent-looking map poster quickly became the most interesting part of the entire box.

GTA 6 fans spotted Sandbars and Crude Islands
When the original promotional imagery appeared on Rockstar’s store, eagle-eyed fans zoomed into the map and noticed a cluster of islands.
Four islands could be seen together, with two names clearly readable. Those names were identified as Sandbars and Crude Islands. Some reports have rendered the first name as “Sanbars,” but the clearest reporting and the original discussion identify it as Sandbars.
That alone would have been enough to send the GTA 6 mapping community into detective mode.
But there was more.
Elsewhere on the artwork, fans noticed two additional partial labels. One appeared to start with “Dra”, while another began with “Beld.” The available promotional image did not make the complete names readable, so their full identities cannot be established from the artwork alone.
The “Dra” label has already sparked speculation that it could refer to Draper Island, a name previously discussed by the GTA 6 community’s mapping efforts. That connection, however, remains a fan interpretation rather than an official Rockstar confirmation.
The same caution applies to “Beld.” There simply is not enough visible information to establish what the complete name is.
The map labels fans spotted
| Location label | What fans could see | Officially confirmed by Rockstar? |
| Sandbars | Full name visible | No |
| Crude Islands | Full name visible | No |
| “Dra…” | Partial label | No |
| “Beld…” | Partial label | No |
So while these names appeared in Rockstar’s own promotional imagery, they should not yet be presented as separately announced GTA 6 locations.
Map labels aren’t the only accidental reveal fans have been picking apart lately. Rockstar removed the names — but the map outlines stayed
Then came the really interesting part.
After screenshots of the original image began spreading online, Rockstar updated the store listing. The location labels were removed from the promotional artwork, but the outlines of the islands remained.
In other words, the map itself wasn’t completely replaced. Rockstar specifically changed the artwork so those readable names were no longer visible.
Rockstar has not publicly explained why the labels were removed.
That means there are several possibilities, but none should be treated as confirmed. The names may have appeared earlier than Rockstar intended to reveal them, the company may want to introduce those areas through future marketing, or the artwork may simply have been revised for another reason.
What is known is much simpler: the original promotional image showed the labels, screenshots were captured, and Rockstar subsequently removed them.
And once those screenshots were out there, they weren’t exactly going back into the bottle.
One fan account summarized the change:
“Rockstar changed the map on the store page of the collector’s box, they removed the labels.”
The reaction from the GTA 6 community was predictable.
“Those names don’t even reveal anything. Rockstar is trippin for no reason,” one commenter wrote.
“Too late now,” another fan replied.
“It’s crazy they’re keep hiding the map,” another added.
For a game community that has spent years analyzing trailer frames, road signs, screenshots and map shapes, a few blurry island names were never going to stay unnoticed.
These aren’t the same regions Rockstar has already officially shown
The new labels stand out because Rockstar has already publicly highlighted several major parts of Leonida through its official GTA 6 promotional material.
Those include:
- Vice City
- Leonida Keys
- Port Gellhorn
- Ambrosia
- Grassrivers
- Mount Kalaga National Park
The newly spotted Sandbars and Crude Islands names do not appear among those previously highlighted regions.
That does not automatically mean they are major new regions of the GTA 6 world, though.
They could be individual islands, smaller areas, geographic features or other named locations within the broader regions of Leonida. The same uncertainty surrounds the partial “Dra” and “Beld” labels.
This distinction is important because the collector-box artwork is evidence that these names appeared on an official Rockstar map illustration — not proof that Rockstar has formally announced them as playable locations.
The map is also being compared with older GTA 6 leaks
Naturally, the new official artwork has landed right in the middle of an already massive GTA 6 map investigation.
Fans have spent years comparing official screenshots and trailers with unofficial maps reconstructed from leaked development material. Older GTA 6 development builds and map images have circulated online, including material from earlier stages of development.
A 2015 GTA 6 map build was reportedly leaked in September 2026, while another older development map and gameplay material had also circulated previously. Take-Two Interactive issued copyright takedown requests against copies of leaked footage, according to reports.
Fans comparing those unofficial layouts with the new Collector’s Box artwork have noticed differences in the shape and arrangement of certain areas.
That has naturally triggered another round of speculation about whether Rockstar has changed parts of Leonida during development.
But there is an important reality check here.
A merchandise poster does not necessarily need to reproduce the game’s geography with the exact precision of the playable world. The collector map is heavily stylized and designed as physical artwork.
Likewise, an older leaked development build does not automatically represent the final version of GTA 6.
So differences between the collector poster and previous fan-created or leaked maps should not be treated as proof that Rockstar has dramatically redesigned Leonida.
The new artwork is more useful as evidence that Rockstar has created a broader named geography for Leonida than as a definitive blueprint for every road, island and playable location.
Rockstar is still keeping plenty of Leonida hidden
The timing makes this little map slip even more interesting.
Rockstar’s GTA 6 marketing campaign has been ramping up as the November launch approaches. The company opened pre-orders in June and confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Rockstar has also continued releasing additional promotional material and expanding the official GTA 6 website with information about its characters and world.
The official website places Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos at the center of the story as their criminal journey unfolds across Leonida.
Yet Rockstar still hasn’t simply dropped a complete, fully labeled map for everyone to study.
Instead, locations have been introduced through screenshots, trailers, character material and dedicated promotional pages.
That makes the Collector’s Box situation unusual.
Rockstar wasn’t announcing a new map reveal when it released the merchandise. But its own store image briefly exposed names that hadn’t been prominently highlighted in previous official marketing.
By the time the labels disappeared, fans had already captured them.
The $399.99 box does not include GTA 6
There’s another detail worth clearing up because the phrase “$400 GTA 6 Collector’s Edition” can make the product sound like a $400 game package.
It isn’t.
The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is merchandise, officially described by Rockstar as a premium Collector’s Box. Grand Theft Auto VI is sold separately.
The box includes the map poster alongside clothing, accessories and collectibles inspired by Vice City and Leonida.
Rockstar says the limited-edition collection arrives on November 19, 2026, the same date GTA 6 launches. The official product listing confirms the 11-item contents and the 19 x 13.5 x 12.5-inch box dimensions.
For players who aren’t interested in collecting GTA merchandise, the box obviously isn’t required to experience GTA 6.
But for map hunters?
That poster has suddenly become one of the most interesting pieces of GTA 6 merchandise Rockstar has shown.
What the GTA 6 map discovery actually tells us
So, what can GTA 6 players safely take away from this whole situation?
Quite a bit — but not as much as some of the more dramatic headlines might suggest.
Rockstar officially sells the $399.99 Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, and the collection includes a double-sided souvenir poster with an illustrated map of Leonida.
The original promotional image of that poster briefly showed several labels that fans had not previously seen prominently identified in Rockstar’s official GTA 6 marketing.
Those included Sandbars and Crude Islands, alongside partial labels beginning with “Dra” and “Beld.”
Rockstar then replaced the promotional image and removed the readable labels while leaving the island outlines visible. The company has not publicly explained the reason for the change.
The names therefore exist as observed labels in official promotional artwork, but they should not yet be described as separately confirmed GTA 6 locations.
The same applies to the theory that “Dra” could mean Draper Island. That’s a community interpretation, not a Rockstar announcement.
And despite all the map comparisons happening across the GTA 6 community, older leaked development maps and fan reconstructions should also be treated separately from Rockstar’s final game.
The biggest takeaway is that Rockstar may have accidentally shown fans a little more of Leonida than it intended.
Not the full GTA 6 map.
Not a definitive list of new regions.
Just a few names.
But with GTA 6 only weeks away, even a few names are enough to send the community straight back into detective mode.
Leonida’s map isn’t the only piece of GTA 6 fans are trying to piece together ahead of launch. Recent comments have also fueled speculation about when the game’s online mode might actually arrive.
