Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble will not receive its planned worldwide launch after all, with developer Oh BiBi ending development of the free-to-play mobile game and scheduling the permanent closure of its servers for May 1, 2027. The game will receive its final planned update in November 2026 before being removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play on November 21, 2026. Players who already have the game installed will be able to continue playing until the servers close.
The decision comes less than four months after PlayStation opened worldwide pre-registration for Ranger Rumble in July 2026 and described the game as preparing for a global launch following regional soft-launch testing. That launch will now not take place, leaving the mobile spin-off to conclude its service while it remains in its regional-release phase.
Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble Development Has Ended
Oh BiBi announced the decision on November 6, 2026, through the official Ranger Rumble website.
The developer stated: โWeโve made the difficult decision to cease development of Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble.โ It also thanked the game’s community for supporting the project, playing it, providing feedback and helping shape the game during development.
The official announcement does not give a specific reason for ending development. It does not attribute the decision to sales, player numbers, operating costs, development difficulties or any other particular factor.
That distinction is important because there is currently no official evidence establishing why the project was discontinued beyond the developer’s announcement that development is ending. Claims about the commercial or internal reasons for the decision would therefore be speculation.
Following Other Major Game Cancellations
The Ranger Rumble shutdown is part of the broader story of game projects ending before or around their intended wider releases. Readers following major industry cancellations can also see our EA BioWare shutdown and Mass Effect cancellation report for another major development shutdown.
The Game’s Final Dates
The official website gives players three major dates for the end of Ranger Rumble:
- November 6, 2026: The final planned update begins rolling out.
- November 21, 2026: The game is removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play and becomes unavailable for new downloads.
- May 1, 2027: The game’s servers permanently shut down and the game becomes unavailable.
The official FAQ also clarifies that there will be no additional game updates after November 7, 2026. This means the November update represents the end of planned development rather than the beginning of another post-cancellation content cycle.
The November 21 storefront removal and May 1 server closure are separate events.
After November 21, new players will no longer be able to download the game from the supported mobile storefronts. Existing players who already have the game installed can continue playing until the servers reach their scheduled end of service on May 1, 2027.
The official FAQ says existing players can also download or reinstall the game only until the November 21 delisting date. Once the game has been removed from the storefronts, that option will no longer be available through those stores.
Once the servers shut down on May 1, 2027, the game will no longer load.
Ranger Rumble Never Reached Its Planned Worldwide Launch
One of the most significant aspects of the cancellation is that Ranger Rumble was never fully launched worldwide.
The game was originally revealed in November 2025, when it entered a regional soft-launch period. It initially became available on iOS and Android in the Philippines and Indonesia, followed by additional regional releases. According to the game’s documented rollout, it subsequently expanded to Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark in December 2025, Canada in May 2026, and the United Kingdom in August 2026.
In July 2026, however, PlayStation and Oh BiBi were still preparing the game for a much broader release.
PlayStation announced that worldwide pre-registration had opened on the App Store and Google Play, describing the regional testing period as preparation for the global launch. The announcement said the developers had been testing and refining the game through regional soft launches in Canada, the Nordic countries, France and Asia.
At that point, the project was still being presented as an upcoming global release rather than a game approaching the end of its service.
The subsequent November announcement changes that plan completely. There will now be no full worldwide launch of Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble.
What Kind of Game Was Ranger Rumble?
Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble was designed as a free-to-play multiplayer hero shooter for mobile devices, rather than as another traditional single-player action-platforming entry in the franchise.
Oh BiBi developed the game in collaboration with PlayStation Studios and Insomniac Games. The concept placed familiar elements of the Ratchet & Clank universe into real-time multiplayer arena battles designed specifically for mobile.
The July 2026 PlayStation Blog description said players could select from a roster of heroes, use individual abilities and weapons, and participate in real-time PvP battles alongside PvE elements.
The planned launch version was described as featuring 12 heroes, including established characters and new characters created for the mobile title. The developers also said they had worked with Insomniac Games on the design and backstories of new Lombax characters.
The game was planned around six different game modes, including team-based PvP, PvE activities and modes inspired by battle royale and football.
The developers also emphasized that the project was intended to retain recognizable elements of Ratchet & Clank, including its humor, characters, weapons and visual identity, while adapting the series’ action for mobile multiplayer.
The Planned Global Launch Had Been Actively Promoted
The cancellation is particularly notable because Ranger Rumble had been moving toward a worldwide launch only a few months earlier.
In July, PlayStation announced a global pre-registration campaign that included community milestones and in-game rewards. One of the featured rewards was a Clank Suit skin for Widget, which players could unlock if the campaign reached its final milestone.
The game’s developers also described themselves as continuing to polish the experience, expand the game and prepare additional content ahead of the global release.
Those plans are no longer going ahead.
The official shutdown announcement does not state whether the global launch was cancelled as a separate event before development ended, but the practical result is clear: the game will be removed from mobile storefronts before it can receive the worldwide release previously being prepared.
What Happens to Existing Players?
Players who already have access to Ranger Rumble will not lose access immediately.
According to the official FAQ, all current game modes, matchmaking and competitive features will remain available until May 1, 2027, when the servers permanently shut down.
The game’s remaining content cycle will also continue during this period.
The Qwark Pass seasons will run until the end of service, while the Super Pass has been made free. The official announcement says players can continue earning rewards through gameplay and spend available currency on upgrades, cosmetics, characters and currencies.
Players will have until the end of service to claim and use rewards earned through the Qwark Pass.
The official FAQ also says that pre-registration rewards will be available to players who log into the November 7, 2026 update, with those rewards delivered through the in-game Inbox.
In-App Purchases Have Been Removed
As part of the game’s final period, in-app purchases have been removed.
Players can still earn rewards through gameplay and use available currency while the game remains operational. The official FAQ says unused currency can be spent until May 1, 2027, when the service ends.
The removal of purchases means players will no longer be able to make new in-app purchases while the game moves toward its shutdown.
For players who previously made purchases, the official FAQ says refund eligibility will be handled through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, depending on where the purchase was made.
The official information does not establish that every previous purchase will automatically qualify for a refund. Instead, players are directed to the relevant storefront for information about their individual eligibility.
Player Progress and Data Will Be Deleted
The end of service will also permanently affect player accounts and stored game data.
The official FAQ states that all player data will be wiped from the game’s servers when service ends on May 1, 2027. Players who want their data deleted earlier can contact the game’s support team.
Progress, purchases and unlocked items also cannot be transferred to another game.
This means that the remaining months of service are the final period in which existing players can access their Ranger Rumble progress and content.
Once the servers close, that progress will not carry forward into another Ratchet & Clank title or another PlayStation game.
The Shutdown Does Not Affect Other Ratchet & Clank Games
The official FAQ specifically addresses whether the end of Ranger Rumble affects the wider franchise or PlayStation services.
According to the developer, the game’s ceasing development has no impact on other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services.
The announcement therefore concerns one mobile project and its online service. It does not announce the cancellation of the Ratchet & Clank franchise or state that other games in the series are affected.
There is also no official statement accompanying the shutdown that links the decision to the future of the wider franchise.
What the Final Months Will Look Like
With development ending, Ranger Rumble is entering an end-of-service period rather than moving toward another major release.
The final planned update is rolling out in November 2026. After the update cycle ends, no additional updates are planned after November 7, while existing features remain operational.
The game will then remain available to its existing player base until the storefront delisting and eventual server shutdown.
The important distinction is that storefront delisting does not immediately end the game’s service. Players who already have the game can continue playing until May 1, 2027, even though new players will no longer be able to obtain it from the App Store or Google Play after November 21, 2026.
The final service period will therefore allow the existing community to continue playing the available modes, earning rewards and using their remaining in-game currency before the servers permanently close.
Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble’s Final Timeline
The confirmed timeline is:
November 6, 2026: The final planned update begins rolling out.
November 7, 2026: The official FAQ says there will be no additional updates after this date. Pre-registration rewards become available through the update’s in-game Inbox.
November 21, 2026: Ranger Rumble is removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play. New players can no longer download the game from those storefronts.
November 21, 2026 onward: Existing players who already have access can continue playing, but the game cannot be newly downloaded or reinstalled through the affected storefronts after delisting.
Until May 1, 2027: Existing game modes, multiplayer matchmaking and competitive features remain available. Qwark Pass seasons also continue, and players can use eligible rewards and in-game currency during the remaining service period.
May 1, 2027: The servers permanently shut down. The game will no longer load, and player data will be deleted.
A Mobile Spin-Off That Will End Before Its Global Debut
Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble was developed as a substantial change of format for the franchise, bringing its characters and weapons into a competitive mobile experience. It progressed from announcement and regional soft launches to worldwide pre-registration, with PlayStation publicly preparing the game for a broader release as recently as July 2026.
That planned expansion will now not happen.
Oh BiBi has ended development, the final update is being released, the game is being removed from mobile storefronts on November 21, 2026, and its servers will remain online only until May 1, 2027.
The official announcement does not provide a reason for the decision, so there is no verified basis for assigning a particular cause to the cancellation. What is confirmed is that Ranger Rumble will conclude its service without receiving the worldwide launch that had been planned earlier in 2026.
For existing players, the game remains playable for several more months. For anyone who never gained access during its regional rollout, however, there will be no subsequent full global release before the project ends.
