What Is the Story About?
The series centres on Akira Yagami, a salaryman well-respected by his colleagues who dies after protecting a child and gets reincarnated as a goblin, the weakest race in the fantasy world. Normally, goblins only survive for seven days. However, Akira receives a unique skill called Human 80 Years, which grants him a full human lifespan and allows him to inherit skills from goblins who die before him.
As Akira grows stronger through those inherited abilities, all kinds of powerful beings start gathering around him, including demons, elves, and even dragons. What starts as survival quickly becomes something far bigger. Beyond the classic isekai setup, the series also blends deeper themes of prejudice, leadership, and defying fate in a monster-hostile world, particularly as Akira faces noble families who refuse to accept a goblin in their ranks.
The manga has been serialised since February 2020 and now spans 13 volumes, with Volume 14 scheduled for release on March 18, 2026. Yen Press publishes the English version and describes the later story as Akira navigating goblin aristocracy and facing an anti-goblin alliance formed by four noble families determined to put him back in his place.
Teaser Visual

The teaser visual, released on March 11, 2026, depicts Akira in his goblin form, a small, green-skinned protagonist with a determined expression set against a lush fantasy landscape. The artwork hints at the allies gathering around him and captures the contrast between his weak starting point and the growing power he builds throughout the story. Manga artist Tsukasa Araki described the visual as stunning and said it perfectly captures the tone of the series. Note that this is a static teaser poster only, as no full trailer has been released yet. A proper trailer is expected closer to the premiere, possibly at AnimeJapan 2026 or during summer 2026.

What the Cast Had to Say
Kikunosuke Toya (Akira) described the goblins in the series as genuinely cute, but noted the emotional weight of their seven-day lifespan. He highlighted how Akira uses his past life experience to lead and protect them, calling it a story packed with highlights.
Yoko Hikasa (Karen) called the series a thoughtful one, pointing out that Akira does not simply thrive after reincarnation. He carries frustration and anger alongside his kindness, and that combination is what gradually draws companions to him. She also noted that the story carries hints that resonate with the real world.
Azusa Tachibana (Chloe) described Chloe as initially strong-willed but someone who opens up as she meets Akira, Karen, and the goblins around them. She called her a very charming character with a lot of different sides to discover.

Creator Reactions
Nazuna Miki (Original Story) admitted this was actually one of the works she felt least confident about when it launched. The series started as a manga original rather than a web novel, its release coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, and several uncertainty factors stacked up at once. However, strong reader support kept the series running, and she expressed full confidence that the anime will turn out extraordinary.
Tsukasa Araki (Manga Artist) noted that even after attending script meetings and recording sessions, the announcement still felt surreal. He called the adaptation a childhood dream come true and said the teaser visual left him genuinely overjoyed.
AnimeJapan 2026 Event
Fans in Japan can catch a special stage event featuring the main cast at the Hakuhodo DY Music and Pictures booth at AnimeJapan 2026, held at Tokyo Big Sight on Sunday, March 29, 2026. The event will feature Kikunosuke Toya, Yoko Hikasa, and Azusa Tachibana in what is expected to be a talk show and Q&A format. No international streaming has been announced for the event, though it may be recorded and posted to official channels afterward.
Where to Read the Manga Now
