According to PEOPLE, 18-year-old Vivienne has officially filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court to change her legal name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. While the filing itself is straightforward, it marks the latest chapter in a series of name change requests within one of Hollywood’s most famous families.

Vivienne Jolie Seeks Legal Name Change as Court Hearing Is Scheduled
Court documents obtained by PEOPLE state that the reason for Vivienne’s request is simply listed as “personal.” A hearing on her petition has been scheduled for November 2, when the court will consider the request.
Although this is her first formal legal filing, the shift away from the Pitt surname has been visible for some time. In May 2024, Vivienne was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway production of The Outsiders, which she helped produce alongside her mother, Angelina Jolie.
The latest filing also follows similar legal actions taken by her siblings.

Vivienne is not the first of the former couple’s six children to seek a legal surname change.
Her sister Shiloh filed a petition in 2024 to legally remove “Pitt” from her surname, with the request officially approved in August 2024. Meanwhile, both Zahara and Maddox have also filed petitions asking to legally become Zahara Marley Jolie and Maddox Chivan Jolie, respectively. Their cases remain pending, with court hearings scheduled for September 28 and September 14.
Following Shiloh’s earlier filing, a source close to Brad Pitt previously told PEOPLE:
“It’s sad to see someone repeatedly publicize their successful alienation of their children from the other parent.”
Vivienne, who was born in July 2008 alongside her twin brother Knox, is the youngest of Jolie and Pitt’s six children.
