One Piece has spent decades following Luffy and the Straw Hats across massive battles and world-shaking adventures, but the franchise is now doing something it rarely does. It is stepping back from the chaos and handing the spotlight entirely to its female cast. One Piece: Heroines is the spin-off that long-time fans have quietly wanted for years, and with a Netflix release now confirmed, the conversation around it has grown considerably louder.

One Piece: Heroines Release Date and Streaming Details

One Piece: Heroines premieres in Japan on July 5, 2026, with an international release confirmed on Netflix on July 11, 2026. Whether the spin-off will also appear on Crunchyroll has not been confirmed at the time of writing.

What Is One Piece: Heroines?

One Piece: Heroines is an official anime spin-off adapting Jun Esaka and Sayaka Suwa’s original novel of the same name. The novel explores untold moments from the lives of prominent female characters in the One Piece universe, including Nami, Robin, Vivi, Hancock, and Perona. However, this anime special focuses specifically on Nami’s story, adapting the “Episode: Nami” segment from the novel.

The tone here is a clear departure from the main series. Rather than epic battles and grand adventures, One Piece: Heroines leans into emotional depth, personal struggles, inner thoughts, and quieter character moments that the main narrative rarely has space to explore.

What Is the One Piece: Heroines Story About?

In the “Episode: Nami” arc, Nami tries on a pair of shoes that do not quite fit and sets out to confront the original designer. It is a smaller, more personal story compared to anything in the main series, and that is precisely the point.

While Nami was the only Straw Hat featured in this part of the original novel, the anime adaptation has expanded the story to include Nico Robin as well, giving fans two beloved characters in a single special.

One Piece: Heroines Story Theme Song

The theme song for One Piece: Heroines is “Blue Shining Star”, performed by AiNA THE END. The song was written and composed by AiNA THE END alongside Ryosuke “Dr.R” Sakai, who has previously worked on songs for numerous artists.

“Blue Shining Star” became available on digital platforms on July 1, 2026, ahead of the special’s Japan premiere. AiNA THE END described the song as portraying an escape from the difficulties of living, celebrating women who possess true strength, and noted that its rhythmic sound is intended to make listeners want to dance alongside the anime.

One Piece: Heroines Production and Creative Team

One Piece: Heroines operates with a separate creative staff from the main series, reflecting its distinct tone and direction.

New voice cast additions for the spin-off include Maaya Sakamoto as Miucha and Takehito Koyasu as Lubun, two new characters introduced in the adaptation.

What Makes This Spin-Off Different?

The main One Piece series has always centred on Luffy’s journey, with supporting characters playing vital but secondary roles. One Piece: Heroines flips that dynamic entirely, letting Nami and Robin carry the narrative on their own terms.

The visual style also reflects the shift, with character designs leaning toward warmth and emotional expressiveness rather than the action-heavy aesthetic of the main anime. The art style prioritises mood, atmosphere, and character expression, making this feel like a genuinely separate creative endeavour rather than a simple side story.

What’s Next for One Piece?

The franchise shows no signs of slowing down beyond this spin-off. The main anime continues with the Elbaph Arc, and Netflix also has a One Piece LEGO special coming in Fall 2026. Looking further ahead, The One Piece, the remake anime by Wit Studio, is set to premiere on Netflix in February 2027, followed later in the year by the third season of the live-action series, One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta.

You can watch One Piece: Heroines on Netflix from July 11, 2026, with the Japan premiere airing on July 5, 2026.
