Pokémon Pokopia is a creative island-building game on Nintendo Switch 2 where building habitats and completing quests burns through your PP fast. Thankfully, cooking meals like the Shredded Salad gives you a handy way to power up your abilities and keep things moving. If you are trying to figure out how to make Shredded Salad, what you actually need, and why it is worth the effort, this guide covers all of it.

What Is Shredded Salad in Pokémon Pokopia?

Shredded Salad is a Sour-flavoured food item in Pokémon Pokopia that powers up the Leafage ability when you eat it. Like all Salad dishes, it turns the Leafage PP bar yellow, which unlocks enhanced functionality such as growing Duckweed on water tiles and Moss on stone blocks. It also restores your PP when eaten.

Beyond powering up Leafage, Shredded Salad is a great gift for Pokémon that prefer Sour-flavoured food, which significantly increases their Comfort Level.

Shredded Salad Ingredients and Requirements

Shredded Salad has a specific requirement that sets it apart from other Salad recipes: you need a Pokémon with the Chop Specialty present when you cook it.

RequirementDetails
Ingredient 1Leaf x1
Ingredient 2Any ingredient x1
Pokémon Specialty RequiredChop (e.g. Dartrix)
Cooking StationCutting Board (placed on a table)
FlavourSour
Ability BoostedLeafage

Important: You cannot make Shredded Salad using Chef Dente, as the recipe requires the Chop Specialty specifically. Make sure Dartrix (or another Pokémon with the Chop Specialty) is actively following you and standing close to the Cutting Board when you cook.

How to Unlock Cooking in Pokémon Pokopia

Before you can cook any recipe, you need to unlock the cooking system. Here is how to do it:

  1. Complete the Withered Wasteland quests to gain access to Rocky Ridges, found through the green gate in the northwest of the map.
  2. Inside Rocky Ridges, work through the main quest until you reach the “Time to Party” quest, which introduces you to Chef Dente.
  3. Repair the PC in front of the Pokémon Center as part of the quest.
  4. Chef Dente then walks you through the cooking basics and teaches you your first recipes.

Once cooking is unlocked, you can set up a Cutting Board on a table and start making Salads.

How to Cook Shredded Salad: Step by Step

With cooking unlocked and Dartrix (or another Chop Specialty Pokémon) by your side, follow these steps:

  1. Craft or place a Cutting Board and set it on a table near a cooking area.
  2. Bring Dartrix close to the Cutting Board. Make sure Dartrix is following you and not busy with another task, such as chopping lumber. If Dartrix is occupied, wait for that task to finish before attempting to cook.
  3. Interact with the Cutting Board and open the cooking menu.
  4. Add your ingredients: one Leaf in the first slot and any ingredient in the second slot. Dartrix should appear on the right side of the cooking menu with the Chop symbol next to them.
  5. Confirm the recipe to cook your Shredded Salad.

Tip: If Dartrix does not appear in the cooking menu, try moving them physically closer to the Cutting Board. They need to be very near the station for the Chop Specialty to register.

What Does Shredded Salad Do?

Eating Shredded Salad gives you two benefits at once:

EffectDetails
Powers up LeafageLets you grow Duckweed on water tiles, Moss on stone blocks, and expand the range of tall grass you can create
Restores PPRefills your ability energy so you can keep using Ditto’s moves

The powered-up Leafage lasts until you fully deplete the yellow PP bar, so it is worth making a few Shredded Salads before a big building session.
