What Is DEADLINE?
DEADLINE is BLACKPINK’s third mini-album, following 2018’s Square Up and 2019’s Kill This Love. It arrives four years after the group’s last full-length album, Born Pink, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2022. The EP’s press materials describe it as capturing “reversible and defining moments,” with the group at their “brightest in the present.”
The mini-album shares its name with the group’s recent global stadium run, the Deadline World Tour, which kicked off at Seoul’s Goyang Stadium and concluded in Hong Kong in January 2026. Notably, BLACKPINK made history during the tour by becoming the first K-pop girl group to headline Wembley Stadium, where they also paid tribute to the Spice Girls with a performance of “Wannabe.”
YG Entertainment shared a statement on the release: “Even amid the intense schedule of a large-scale world tour, the members devoted significant time and effort to perfecting this album. We are confident it is a body of work that encapsulates both the individual musical capabilities of the four members and their synergy as a team.”

Track by Track: What to Expect from Each Song
1. JUMP (2:44)
JUMP is the EP’s pre-released lead single, which dropped in July 2025 before the full album arrived. It opens with a striking guitar riff that evokes the drama of a classic Western film before slamming into a high-energy hardstyle drop. The track reached No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Global 200, confirming its status as the EP’s commercial centrepiece. Production credits go to TEDDY, Diplo, 24, Boaz Van De Beatz, Zecca, and Ape Drums, with songwriting contributions from Claudia Valentina, Zikai, Jumpa, Malachiii, and Jesse Bluu. Early listeners consistently rank it as the strongest track on the project.
2. GO (3:15)
GO serves as the mini-album’s title track and newest single, accompanied by a full music video released on the same day as the album. Produced by Cirkut and TEDDY, with additional contributions from Chris Martin and the members themselves, the song opens with restrained vocals from JENNIE and ROSÉ before building into a percussion-heavy, bass-driven drop. The hook is direct and commanding, and the music video delivers bold visuals and choreography that match its anthemic tone. Reception among fans and critics has been largely positive, with many calling it a confident evolution of BLACKPINK’s signature sound. Some listeners, however, have noted a more minimal, electronic feel that places it on more polarising ground than JUMP.
3. Me and My (2:52)
Me and My is a retro hip-hop-infused track built on polished brass elements and a laid-back beat. It delivers a playful and self-assured energy with sharp rap verses and harmonious choruses. Compared to the more explosive moments on the EP, it functions as a breather track, though its addictive melody drew positive reactions during preview sessions. Some fan reviews draw comparisons to earlier BLACKPINK tracks like “Pretty Savage” and “Typa Girl” for its confident, swaggering feel.
4. Champion (2:52)
Champion takes an empowering, anthemic approach, with layered vocals and a driving beat co-produced by hitmaker Lukasz Gottwald. The track builds triumphantly and positions BLACKPINK as unstoppable forces, which feels fitting given the real-world dominance they have demonstrated over the past several years. The production shines particularly in its build-ups, making it a strong candidate for live performance settings. Some listeners find the chorus slightly formulaic compared to the EP’s more distinctive moments, though the bridge offers a standout shift in energy.
5. Fxxxboy (3:07)
Fxxxboy is the EP’s most provocatively titled track and delivers a rawer, more confrontational tone than typical BLACKPINK releases. It leans into swagger-heavy rap sections and a gritty bassline, giving each member space to showcase their individual styles. The instrumental has drawn particular praise in early fan discussions, with some noting it builds with the tension of a slow-burning ballad before the full track takes shape. It ranks as a fan favourite among die-hard BLINKs who want something fiercer and less polished than the group’s radio-friendly output.
BLACKPINK’s Solo Work Before DEADLINE
The four-year gap between Born Pink and DEADLINE gave each member time to pursue solo careers, and all four delivered debut solo albums during that period. ROSÉ released Rosie, which included “Apt,” her collaboration with Bruno Mars. LISA released Alter Ego and also appeared in the most recent season of The White Lotus, which was shot in Thailand. JENNIE released her debut solo project, Ruby, and also starred in The Idol. JISOO released EP Amortage and stars in Netflix’s upcoming series Boyfriend on Demand.
However, despite thriving individually, all four members expressed that they missed working together before reuniting. JENNIE told Billboard in January 2025: “I’ve missed doing tours with them. I miss our silly moments. Everyone took their own journey, and I want to say it’s going to be the most powerful versions of ourselves that anyone has seen.”
Fan and Critical Reception
Early streaming numbers pushed DEADLINE to the top of charts on Spotify and Apple Music immediately upon release. JUMP, which had already been out for several months, retains strong replay value and leads the EP’s performance figures with its No. 1 Global 200 chart position.
Fan reaction to the full project is mixed but engaged. On Rate Your Music, the EP sits at 1.85 out of 5.0 from 192 ratings as of the release day, with some listeners expecting a more significant sonic evolution given the members’ successful solo careers. On Album of the Year, one fan posted a detailed breakdown, rating JUMP at 80, Me and My at 75, Champion at 50, GO at 40, and Fxxxboy at 37, noting:
“This is not the BLACKPINK I met. Change of concept is not bad, but in this case it is not very well executed.”
However, many fans enjoyed the experimentation:
All in all, many BLINKs are enthusiastic about having new group music for the first time in years, and GO’s bold music video has driven significant social media buzz around the release.
BLACKPINK’s Record-Breaking Decade
DEADLINE arrives as BLACKPINK celebrates a decade since their 2016 debut, following contract renewals with YG Entertainment and years of global stadium touring. The group became the first K-pop act to headline Glastonbury, and their 2022 Born Pink world tour broke attendance records across multiple continents. With DEADLINE, they step into their tenth year as one of K-pop’s most globally recognised acts, and the EP’s release confirms that the group intends to remain active alongside their individual solo pursuits.
