LEVEL-5 continues to shape Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road into a long-term football RPG with its second free major update, titled Ares & Fabled Seed DLC, arriving on January 28. Rather than adding surface-level extras, this update deepens the game’s narrative roots and strengthens long-term team building. It also marks an important moment for fans of the Ares era, whose story finally finds its place in the series’ playable canon.

This update does not try to overwhelm you. Instead, it focuses on meaningful additions that reward commitment, curiosity, and attachment to your squad.

Ares Route Arrives in Chronicle Mode

The centerpiece of the update is the opening of the Ares Route within Chronicle Mode. For the first time, the story of Inazuma Eleven Ares becomes playable rather than remaining exclusive to the anime.

As you progress through this route, you experience a football drama built around ambition, rivalry, and growth. Chronicle Mode already serves as a historical backbone for the series, and the inclusion of Ares strengthens that foundation. You now have a clearer narrative bridge between past and present eras, which makes the overall structure of Victory Road feel more complete.

For players invested in lore, this route adds context. For competitive players, it offers fresh challenges and character encounters that expand scouting options.

The Fabled Seed

Alongside the new story content, LEVEL-5 introduces a special item called the Fabled Seed. This item allows you to upgrade one character of your choice to Fabled rarity, a tier introduced in the first free major update.

This design choice respects player agency. Instead of locking progression behind randomness or grinding, the game asks you to make a deliberate decision. You choose which character deserves that evolution. Whether you favor a long-time captain or an overlooked bench player, the upgrade feels personal.

The Fabled Seed also signals a shift in how Victory Road handles progression. Power growth now ties more closely to emotional investment rather than raw numbers.

A Strategic Update, Not a Distraction

What stands out about the Ares & Fabled Seed DLC is restraint. LEVEL-5 avoids feature bloat and focuses on reinforcing the core pillars of Victory Road. Story integration, character growth, and long-term replay value all receive attention without pulling the game in a new direction.

This approach benefits both new and returning players. If you recently started your journey, the update expands your path forward. If you already invested dozens of hours, it gives you a reason to revisit Chronicle Mode with fresh intent.

Looking Beyond January 28

During the same showcase, LEVEL-5 confirmed that a sequel to Victory Road is now in early development. While details remain scarce, this context matters. The Ares & Fabled Seed DLC feels like a bridge between the present game and the future of the series. It reinforces themes and systems that likely carry forward.

Victory Road does not stand still. This update proves that the game continues to evolve with care rather than urgency.

Release Details and Platforms

The Ares & Fabled Seed DLC launches on January 28 as a free update. Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.
