Il Toro Balancing: The Big One
The Il Toro shotgun has been the dominant weapon on the Stella Montis map since it entered the meta. Despite only being an uncommon (green) rarity weapon, its raw damage output and range made it a must-pick in both PvP and PvE situations. Players had been requesting a nerf for weeks, and Update 1.20.0 delivers exactly that.
Embark’s stated goal with these changes is to make the Il Toro perform more like a weapon of its rarity. Here is Embark’s full developer note on the changes:
“This is an adjustment many of you requested. We have tuned the Il Toro to address its DPS and effectiveness at range, especially when combined with a choke. We’re also making some changes so it performs more like a weapon of its rarity (less versatile at lower upgrade levels and more dependent on upgrades and mods). Most notably, fire-rate and reload time have been reduced, which will make it more important to fully utilize positioning, cover, and timing to defeat your opponents. We will of course continue to keep a close eye on this to see how it plays out in practice, and make additional adjustments when needed.”
Here is a full breakdown of every stat change to the Il Toro:
| Stat | Before | After |
| Pellet Damage | 7.5 | 7 |
| Base Fire-Rate | 43 | 38 |
| Base Dispersion | 4.5 | Increased to 6 (wider spread) |
| Total Reload Time | 4.3s | Increased to 5.7s |
| Looping Reload Entry | 0.8s | Increased to 1s |
| Looping Reload Time | 0.5s | Increased to 0.7s |
| Damage Loss from Falloff | 40% | Increased to 50% |
Energy Clips Price Nerf
Alongside the Il Toro changes, Update 1.20.0 also hits the Energy Clips economy hard. The sell price of Energy Clips has been reduced from 1,000 coins to just 200 coins.
Embark addressed this directly in the patch notes, explaining that Energy Clips had become an unintentionally profitable craft, generating income well above what other crafted items could offer. This change brings Energy Clip profitability back in line with the rest of the in-game economy.
If you had been farming Energy Clips as your go-to coin earner, you will need to find a new resource to trade going forward.
New Cosmetics: Rawhide Outfit and New Haircuts
Update 1.20.0 is not all nerfs and economy fixes. Embark has also added new items for players to pick up from Speranza vendors:
- Rawhide Outfit: A leather-heavy cosmetic that fits the harsh aesthetic of the Rust Belt environment
- Low Bun: A new haircut option for your Raider
- Curtain Fade: A second new haircut option, both complementing the beards and moustaches added during the Shrouded Sky update
Bug Fixes in Update 1.20.0
Beyond the balance changes, Embark addressed several gameplay issues with this update:
- Fixed a bug causing persistent audio from destroyed Comets and Fireballs
- Fixed an issue where players could be pushed through walls and get stuck in the Dam Controlled Access Zone
- Fixed missing collision issues near the east elevator and under pipes on Spaceport
What Is Coming Next for ARC Raiders?
Update 1.20.0 arrives ahead of the next major content addition on the roadmap: Flashpoint. Embark has confirmed Flashpoint is expected to drop within the next two weeks and will include:
- A new map condition
- A new Arc threat
- A new player project
- A Scrappy update
Additionally, April will bring ARC Raiders’ first new map since Stella Montis, along with a new large-scale Arc enemy entering the game.
Update 1.20.0 is live now across all platforms. You can access ARC Raiders on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. If you have not yet received the update, restart your game client to trigger the download.
