Computer terminals sit quietly in several rooms throughout Blue Prince, yet many players stop short at the first login screen. The terminals are important in the early game, since they unlock email, internal logs, and remote access functions. The confusion rarely comes from the password itself. The confusion comes from how the game presents the input field and how each platform handles the submit action.
This guide walks you straight through the password, the clue that reveals it, and the reason so many players think the code fails even when they typed it correctly.
Spoilers Ahead!!!
Where the Terminal Password Hides in Blue Prince
The clearest clue appears in the Security Room. A staff notice hangs on the bulletin board near the coffee station. Someone tried to block out a single word with heavy scribbles, which signals that the password sits right there in plain sight. The word hides under those marks, so players need a tool that sharpens small text.
How to Reveal the Clue
You need the Wood and Brass Magnifying Glass. Several rooms can spawn this item, including spaces like the Parlor or Bedroom. The Commissary may also stock it. Once you have it, inspect the staff notice again. Hold the glass over the blacked-out word and the game reveals the hidden password.

The word appears with a sense of finality, as if someone tried to wipe it from memory but lost that fight.
The Terminal Password in Blue Prince
The terminal password is:
SWANSONG
The computers use an all-caps font, so capitalization never matters. The password never changes between days or save files. Once you know it, you know it for every run.

Why Players Think the Password Does Not Work
This is the part that trips up almost everyone.
The terminal displays what looks like a twelve-space field, which encourages players to fill every block. The code, however, uses fewer characters than the visual field. You only need to type SWANSONG and submit it. Nothing more.
The Real Problem: The Submit Button
The login screen does not respond to the usual confirm button on the console. Many players press X or A repeatedly, thinking the password failed. The terminal waits for the system’s equivalent of an Enter key.
Here is how to submit the password on every platform:
PC
Press Enter on the keyboard.
Xbox
Press RT.
PlayStation
Press R2.
Steam Deck
Press R2 on the Deck controls.
Once you press the correct button, the terminal opens instantly.
Where You Can Use the Password
You can log into every terminal located in:
- Security
- Office
- Laboratory
- Shelter
Each terminal offers different functions. Some provide email. Others allow remote access to experiments or payroll.
