The With a Trace quest in ARC Raiders asks you to read the land rather than rush through it. At first glance, the objectives look clear, yet the game tests your sense of place and attention to detail. This guide explains how to complete With a Trace efficiently, why the quest tracker feels misleading, and how to move through Blue Gate with purpose instead of panic.
What With a Trace Is Really About
With a Trace focuses on environmental storytelling. Instead of direct combat or item delivery, the quest pushes you to examine how Arc machines fell and who might have caused it. The task unfolds entirely on the Blue Gate map and finishes once you interact with two specific points of interest. Extraction does not matter for completion, which makes this quest ideal for a low risk run.
Step One: Reading the Barren Clearing
Your journey begins at Barren Clearing, located on the western edge of Blue Gate. The quest often updates early, sometimes while you remain far from the actual objective. Ignore that prompt and continue deeper into the clearing itself.
At the center, you will see a massive destroyed Arc machine. Move to its southwest side and look for a severed leg lying slightly apart from the body. Near it sits a lighter gray, dish shaped component that resembles a sensor or transmitter.
Interact with this object to confirm signs of Arc machine damage. Nearby enemies and roaming players make this area risky, so keep your movement deliberate and avoid lingering.
Step Two: The Truth at Adorned Wreckage
From Barren Clearing, head southeast toward Adorned Wreckage, passing Trapper’s Glade along the way. The landmark features a tall, rocket like structure covered in paint and scrap. Arc patrols often roam this area, so prepare for quick engagements.
The objective does not involve the large wreck itself. Instead, search for a small yellow computer terminal placed on a makeshift desk beside a cylindrical piece of wreckage. Interact with the terminal to finish the quest.

Once you activate the device, With a Trace completes immediately, even if you fall before extraction.
Why Some Players Get Lost Here?
With a Trace confuses many players because the quest tracker responds to proximity rather than precision. The world feels uniform in these zones, and early objective updates suggest progress that has not actually happened. The solution lies in trusting landmarks over prompts and scanning wreckage closely.
Rewards and Next Steps
Completing With a Trace grants useful early gear such as a Medium Shield and a Looting Mk 2 Augment. More importantly, it sharpens the skills ARC Raiders quietly demands: observation, restraint, and spatial awareness.
