While we all may have strong opinions about the sequel of Grow a Garden, we all can agree that the pet feature is one of the best parts in both these games. And with the latest addition of the turtle pet, Grow a Garden 2 now has a total of 14 pets that can spawn on your map. While this rare pet holds a very similar function to the turtle in GAG 1, it is worth knowing about its abilities, spawn pattern, and price before getting your hands on one.

How to Catch The New Turtle Pet in Grow a Garden 2?
Much like most of the pets in Grow a Garden 2, turtles are known to randomly spawn on your map. However, you can also hatch a turtle from a Guild event egg. But there is no prior way of knowing if you will win a turtle egg through the event or not.
Once the turtle appears on your map, you need to be really fast and decisive if you want to catch it:
- A countdown will appear above the pet, along with its price (70,000 Sheckles).
- Other players will also be able to detect and find the turtle using the map.
In order to catch the turtle, you need to pay the base price as soon as you can; otherwise, there is a chance a rich player will swoop in and place a higher bet and take away the turtle. Of course, unless you are the rich player, then you have nothing to worry about.
But, What if The Turtle Does not Spawn on Your Map?
As someone whose turtle was taken away at the last second, I know the pain of it not spawning again on the map. But there is something you can do! You can switch to public servers until you find one. This is called server hopping and is one of the most reliable way of getting any spawnable pet quickly, especially for US and UK players.
To swap your server, all you need to do is:
- Visit the Roblox page for Grow a Garden 2
- Scroll all the way down
- Click on the Servers (As shown in the image above)
- Select the server of your choice

Now that you know how to catch this pet, it is important to know what it can do for you. And then you can decide if it is worth your time and sheckles or not!
The main superpower of this shelled creature is to grant you +10 backpack space. However, you need to be mindful that it also reduces your walking speed by -2. The drawback is not as bad as it sounds, since the pet abilities are stackable in the game, and you can balance them out.

How Do You Deal With The Speed Penalty?
Let’s be real, walking around with six Turtles equipped feels painfully slow. And that slowdown gets dangerous at night, when other players try to raid your garden while you are barely crawling across the map. Thankfully, you have three easy fixes:
- Speed Mushrooms: A consumable gear item that cancels out the Turtle’s speed penalty while active
- Teleport buttons: Use these to instantly warp to your garden or the central shop instead of trudging there on foot
- Get a Bunny Pet: The most effective way of fixing the turtle’s slow speed, the bunny grants +5 speed and is stackable with the turtle’s stats.
So, Is The Turtle Worth Getting in Grow a Garden 2?
I will break down my opinion for both beginners and veterans:
For New Players: While there is no doubt that the turtle is a true asset to your pet squad in the long run, it may be too expensive for new players. Buying it too early in the game may take a lot of toll on your game resources while leaving you with a crawling speed. So, you should consider buying it once you have at least a bunny or have saved up a lot of Sheckles.
For Veterans: If you are a compulsive hoarder like me or even not, the turtle is the game-changer and the money-making machine you need. Get as many as you can and pair them with complementary pets to get the best results.
And finally, the most important advice: “Don’t get scammed while trading!”
