How to Solve the Floating Crates Puzzle in Arknights Endfield

Arknights Endfield in-game tutorial screen explaining the Floating Crate (1) mechanics.

Arknights: Endfield introduces its traversal mechanics early, and the Floating Crates puzzle during the Rally and Unite quest is one of the first moments where the game tests how well you read your environment. This puzzle is not about difficulty. It is about understanding how Endfield treats objects, weight, and elevation.

Solving it correctly ensures you collect all available rewards and prepares you for similar mechanics used throughout later regions.

Puzzle Location and Quest Purpose

You encounter the Floating Crates puzzle during the Rally and Unite main quest in Valley IV, within the Originium Byproduct Processing Center. The quest path leads you directly into this area, so no optional triggers or side objectives are required to access it.

The layout immediately signals an environmental challenge. Low barriers, sealed zones, and clearly placed crates replace combat encounters, shifting focus to movement and interaction.

How Floating Crates Function in Endfield

Floating Crates are interactive traversal tools with two primary functions. When activated, a crate lifts off the ground and follows your directional input while maintaining collision with the environment. It cannot pass through walls or objects.

Once dropped, the crate becomes a stable physical object. The game registers it as both a platform and a weighted item. This dual behavior forms the basis of the entire puzzle.

Floating Crates behave predictably. They do not slide, tilt, or react to momentum. Endfield expects precise placement rather than physics manipulation.

Step One: Using a Crate to Bypass the Barrier

The first obstacle is a low industrial barrier blocking access to the main puzzle area. Normal movement cannot clear it.

Activate the nearby Floating Crate and position it flush against the barrier. Drop the crate, climb onto it, and step over the barrier. This establishes the crate as a movable elevation tool rather than a fixed platform.

The game introduces this mechanic early because later areas reuse it frequently.

Step Two: Identifying the Objective Mechanism

Inside the restricted area, you will find a pressure switch embedded in the floor, marked with industrial yellow indicators. A sealed blue chest sits nearby.

The switch requires sustained weight to remain active. Player presence alone does not fulfill this condition, which signals that an object must replace you on the switch.

This design teaches you to separate activation from interaction.

Step Three: Activating the Pressure Switch with a Floating Crate

Lift the Floating Crate again and guide it directly onto the pressure switch. Ensure the crate fully covers the activation zone before dropping it.

Once placed, the switch remains active without further input. The chest unlocks immediately, confirming correct placement.

This step defines Floating Crates as recognized “heavy objects” within Endfield’s logic system.

Step Four: Opening the Blue Chest

With the switch held down, open the blue chest to obtain its contents. These rewards contribute directly to early progression and confirm puzzle completion from the quest’s perspective.

At this point, the environment still contains an optional objective tied to the same mechanic.

Step Five: Reaching the Aurylene Above

Look upward within the puzzle area. Stacked containers form an elevated platform holding an Aurylene collectible. Standard jumping cannot reach this height.

Reposition the Floating Crate near the stacked blocks. Drop it close enough to create a direct climbing route. Jump onto the crate, then onto the elevated surface, and collect the Aurylene.

This step reinforces vertical scanning, which Endfield frequently uses to hide optional resources.

Rewards from the Floating Crates Puzzle

Completing all elements of the puzzle grants the following:

  • Industry materials from the blue chest
  • T-Creds for early upgrades
  • An Arms INSP Kit
  • One Aurylene from the elevated platform

The Aurylene is optional but contributes to long-term progression systems.

Common Execution Issues

Incorrect crate placement on the pressure switch can cause deactivation when you move away. Always center the crate within the marked area.

Placing the crate too far from the elevated platform reduces jump clearance and prevents reaching the Aurylene. Align the crate tightly with the target surface before climbing.

Leaving the area immediately after opening the chest results in missing the optional collectible above.
