Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds continues to grow with steady updates, but this week marks one of its more playful collaborations as Pac-Man races into the spotlight. Sega confirmed that the Pac-Man content arrives this Thursday, bringing a nostalgic flavor to a game that already thrives on crossover energy. You also gain access to a surprise free festival that celebrates the arrival of the iconic yellow hero and his ghostly rivals.
The update sets the tone for what seems to be an ambitious year for CrossWorlds. Sega plans more seasonal surprises, and this event works as an early spark for what the studio hopes will be a standout 2026.
What the Pac-Man Pack Adds to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
The Pac-Man Pack joins the Season Pass lineup and introduces several themed additions. Pac-Man becomes a playable racer, joined by familiar ghost characters including Blinky, Pinky, Clyde and Inky. Their machines carry the bold, arcade-inspired style you would expect, while a new Pac-Man themed course rounds out the content.
Sega has not shared every detail about the track’s layout, so you may find yourself stepping into it with fresh eyes. The game often uses its crossovers to mix visual flair with playful twists. That pattern suggests that the Pac-Man course will lean into color, speed and quick-react moments that suit both series.
Only players with the Season Pass or Digital Deluxe edition can access this DLC, which keeps it aligned with Sega’s current content strategy for CrossWorlds.
A Free Festival for Everyone
Alongside the paid content, Sega is offering a free in-game Pac-Man Festival. The event begins on January 7 and runs until January 11. You can take part even if you do not own the Pac-Man Pack, which makes the festival a welcoming moment for the entire community.
Past festivals in CrossWorlds often offer challenges, themed missions, and cosmetic rewards. Sega has not listed the specifics for this one yet, but the studio’s festival structure usually gives you incentives to explore the game’s tracks and roster with a fresh loop of goals.
The timing of the festival places it right alongside the DLC release, so even free players can share the atmosphere of the crossover week.
How This Fits Into CrossWorlds’ Growing Crossover Strategy
Pac-Man joins a lineup that already includes Spongebob, Minecraft and a variety of free racers from across Sega’s catalog. Recent free additions include Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona, Ichiban Kasuga from Like a Dragon and NiGHTS.
This structure separates CrossWorlds from Mario Kart World, which now leans toward native characters and open world systems. Instead of chasing the same path, Sega leans into frequent crossovers and timed celebrations that shift the game’s identity from season to season.
Director Masaru Kohayakawa previously shared that the team aims to deliver a full year of updates, along with surprises that were not present at launch. With future content planned around Mega Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar Legends, Pac-Man marks only the start of 2026’s lineup.
