⚠️Full spoilers for Poppy Playtime Chapter 5: Broken Things below. If you have not finished the chapter yet, close this tab and come back when you have.
You put the game down. The credits rolled. And after everything Chapter 5 just put you through, after the reunion you had waited years for, after watching the Prototype tear through everything in its path and walk away with Poppy, after that eye blinked open on the screen and Harley Sawyer came back from what you thought was the dead, you were left sitting with one question.
Is this really not over yet?
Because Chapter 5 did not feel like a chapter. It felt like a reckoning. And the fact that it still ended on a cliffhanger, with so much left unresolved and so many characters hanging in the balance, is both thrilling and quietly exhausting. So let us talk about what comes next, what Mob Entertainment has actually confirmed, and what the ending of Chapter 5 is really setting up.
Is Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 the Final Chapter?
Most likely no, and if you finished it, you already know why. The ending of Chapter 5 does not feel like a conclusion. It feels like the story shifting gears. Major characters are left in critical condition with no confirmation either way, Poppy is gone, the protagonist’s survival raises more questions than it answers, and Harley Sawyer is back in a form nobody predicted.

Many fans going into Chapter 5 expected it to be the finale. The build-up pointed that way, the community had theorised it for months, and the marketing leaned into the idea that this chapter would be something definitive. However, Mob Entertainment clearly had a different plan. Rather than closing the door, Chapter 5 opens several new ones, and walks you right up to the threshold before cutting to black.
What Does the Ending Actually Leave Unresolved?
Quite a lot. Here is where every major thread stands after the final scene:

- Huggy Wuggy and Kissy Missy share the reunion the series had been building toward for years, only for the Prototype to rip it apart almost immediately. Both are left in a critical state after the attack. Neither is confirmed dead, but neither is confirmed to have survived either. Their fate going into Chapter 6 is completely open.
- Poppy is in the Prototype’s hands. It declared its intention to “fix” her before taking her, which raises deeply unsettling questions about what that process looks like and whether anything of the Poppy we know will remain.
- The Protagonist survived a stab through the chest and full submersion in Poppy Gel, a “a substance previously described in lore as a potent biohazard and cell-growth booster, potentially lethal to humans. Giblet revives them with an electric shock, but the game offers no real explanation for how they survived. That silence feels deliberate, and it points toward the protagonist’s true nature becoming a much bigger story beat in Chapter 6.
- Harley Sawyer is back. Not in the flesh, but as a digitised copy of his consciousness stored on an old computer in the Data Center. He was the architect of the Bigger Bodies Initiative and the main antagonist of Chapter 4. Whether his return makes him an unlikely ally or an entirely new threat is something the ending deliberately refuses to answer.
- The Negation Compound, the only confirmed way to counter the Prototype’s ability to heal itself, still needs to be made. The formula exists. Giblet and Chum are with you. That gives Chapter 6 a clear starting point, but the road to actually using it remains wide open.
Has Mob Entertainment Officially Confirmed Chapter 6?
Not officially. Mob Entertainment has not made a public announcement confirming Poppy Playtime Chapter 6 by name or given any official statement about the future of the series beyond what the Chapter 5 ending implies.

However, early speculative reports have pointed toward a sixth chapter with the title Chapter 6: All Seeing Eye, described as a direct continuation and possibly the final chapter in the saga.
None of this has been verified by Mob Entertainment directly, so it is worth treating with some caution until the studio speaks publicly.
What is not in doubt is that the Chapter 5 ending was build to set up a continuation. Whether that comes as a full chapter, a shorter epilogue, or something else entirely is still unknown.
When Could Poppy Playtime Chapter 6 Release?
There is no official release date, and Mob Entertainment has not hinted at a timeline. Looking at how the series has released previously gives some context, though.
The series launched in 2021 and has generally released a new chapter roughly every year, with 2023 being the one gap in that pattern. Chapter 5 arrived in early 2026, which makes 2027 the most reasonable window to expect Chapter 6. If development runs longer than usual, 2028 is the furthest realistic estimate based on past patterns.
None of that is confirmed. It is pattern recognition rather than fact, and Mob Entertainment could announce something much sooner or take considerably longer. Until the studio says something officially, 2027 remains an educated guess.
What Is the Community Saying?
The reaction to Chapter 5’s ending has been loud, and discussion about Chapter 6 is already well underway across the community. Most players agree that another chapter is effectively guaranteed based on what the ending sets up. The return of Harley Sawyer has generated particularly intense debate, with fans split between seeing him as a potential weapon against the Prototype and seeing him as yet another threat the protagonist will have to deal with.

The protagonist’s survival has also sparked genuine speculation about who or what they actually are. Several fans have pointed to the Poppy Gel revival as a hint that the protagonist may not be a typical human, which could change the entire framing of the series if Chapter 6 leans into it.
On scope, the community is divided. Some expect Chapter 6 to be a tighter, more focused conclusion to the Prototype conflict. Others think Mob Entertainment will continue expanding the world of Playtime Co. rather than rushing toward an ending. Given that the series has surprised everyone at every turn, it is probably wise not to predict too confidently so soon.
