Bricks are one of the most important building materials in Pokémon Pokopia, and the game does not go out of its way to explain how to get them. You will need Bricks fairly early on in Bleak Beach, the game’s third area, and demand for them only grows as you progress further. The good news is that once you understand the process, keeping a steady supply of Bricks is straightforward and easy to fit into your daily routine.

What Are Bricks Used For in Pokémon Pokopia?
Before jumping into production, it helps to know exactly why you need Bricks. They serve several purposes across the game:
Meowth’s Planter Request: The first time you need Bricks is in Bleak Beach, when Meowth asks you to craft a Planter. This kicks off the entire brick-making process and introduces you to Torchic.
Rebuilding the Pokémon Centre: The Bleak Beach Pokémon Centre reconstruction requires 20 Bricks, along with 10 Twine, 10 Sea Glass Fragments, and 5 Iron Ore.
Pikachu Fountain: Located between the Pokémon Centre and Smeargle’s artist hideout, the Pikachu Fountain requires 10 Bricks.
Walls and Flooring: Bricks are a key ingredient for decorative and structural building across the entire game. Several build kits later in the game also specifically call for Bricks.

Step 1: Get Squishy Clay
Squishy Clay is the raw material you need to make Bricks. You cannot find Bricks in the wild, so collecting Squishy Clay is always your starting point.

How to collect it: Use Rock Smash or Rollout to break Clay blocks. Clay blocks look slightly different from regular rock and cliff faces. They appear with a slightly lighter brown colour and feature bright and dark grey running through them, along with lots of smaller stones. Smash the block and pick up the Squishy Clay that drops.
Step 2: Find a Pokémon with the Burn Specialty
To turn Squishy Clay into Bricks, you need a Pokémon with the Burn Specialty. Several Pokémon carry this ability, and you will encounter two of the most accessible ones through normal story progression.

Important tip: If you need Bricks urgently before reaching Bleak Beach, you can head back to the Withered Wasteland and ask Charmander to fire your clay instead of waiting for Torchic. However, since meeting Torchic is part of the Bleak Beach story progression anyway, most players will encounter Torchic naturally as part of completing Meowth’s requests.
Step 3: How to Unlock Torchic (Chirp-Chirp Meal Habitat)
Torchic is the primary Burn Specialty Pokémon in Bleak Beach, and you need to set up its habitat before it will appear. The habitat is called the Chirp-Chirp Meal, and the components are already partially set up near the birdhouse behind the Pokémon Centre on the right side of the area.
Items required for the Chirp-Chirp Meal habitat:

To set it up, simply place the Plate on the table (it is currently sitting off to the side rather than on the table) and then place a common food item such as a Leppa Berry on the plate. Once everything is in position, check back regularly and watch for the birdhouse to start rattling and shaking. When it does, interact with it and Torchic will appear inside.
After the introduction, speak to Torchic again and it will explain that bringing Squishy Clay to it allows it to bake the clay into Bricks for you.
Step 4: Make Bricks
Once you have Squishy Clay and a Burn Specialty Pokémon ready, the process is quick and repeatable.
Step 1: Approach the Burn Specialty Pokémon (Torchic, Charmander, or any other) and interact with it.
Step 2: Select “Look at this!” from the interaction menu.
Step 3: Choose the Squishy Clay from your inventory to show it to the Pokémon.
Step 4: Select “Turn it into Bricks” when prompted.
Step 5: Choose how much Squishy Clay to hand over. You can give up to 10 Squishy Clay per batch, which produces 20 Bricks.
Step 6: Wait a few minutes for the Pokémon to finish firing the clay. You can continue exploring, building habitats, or collecting more Squishy Clay while you wait. There is no daily limit on how many times you can request Brick production.
Note that the very first time Torchic makes Bricks for you, it will only accept 1 Squishy Clay as a demonstration. After that introduction, you can hand over up to 10 at a time per batch.
How Many Bricks Do You Need in Bleak Beach?
Planning ahead saves a lot of back-and-forth. Here is a breakdown of the total Bricks required for the major Bleak Beach projects:

Torchic can produce all 30 Bricks across two full batches of 10 Squishy Clay, though the first session only accepts 1 clay. With that in mind, collecting at least 15 Squishy Clay before you begin is the most efficient approach.
Tips for Efficient Brick Production
Use multiple Burn Specialty Pokémon at once. If you have several Pokémon with the Burn Specialty settled near each other, you can give a small amount of Squishy Clay to each one simultaneously. This reduces total wait time significantly when you need a large Brick haul quickly.
Keep Charmander busy too. Since Charmander is available from the very first area, you can use it for Brick production in parallel with Torchic in Bleak Beach, effectively doubling your output during busy build phases.
Build Paldean Wooper’s habitat for passive clay. Once you set up a habitat for Paldean Wooper, it drops Squishy Clay around its habitat using its Litter Specialty at regular intervals. This gives you a passive source of raw material that reduces the amount of manual clay block breaking you need to do over time.
Collect clay every time you pass through Bleak Beach. Since Clay blocks are plentiful in Bleak Beach and respawn over time, breaking any you spot during normal exploration keeps your Squishy Clay reserves topped up without requiring dedicated farming sessions.
