New World: Aeternum is reaching the end of its long journey. Amazon Game Studios has confirmed that the MMO has been delisted from digital storefronts as of January 15, 2026, with servers scheduled to shut down permanently on January 31, 2027. For players still roaming Aeternum, this announcement sets a clear timeline for what remains and what to expect during the game’s final year.
What Delisting Means for You
As of today, New World: Aeternum can no longer be purchased on any platform. If you already own the game, nothing changes in the short term. You can continue to download, install, and play on your purchased platform until the servers go offline in January 2027.
The delisting simply closes the door to new players. Existing characters, worlds, and progression remain intact for the remainder of the game’s lifespan.
Server Shutdown Date Confirmed
Amazon Game Studios has set January 31, 2027 as the official shutdown date for all New World: Aeternum servers. Once that date passes, the game will no longer be accessible in any form. This applies across PC and console versions.
The current Nighthaven season will remain active until shutdown. World bosses, bonus weeks, and live events will continue to rotate during this period, giving players one final year to experience the world as it stands.
No More Content, But Continued Support
Season 10 and the Nighthaven update marked the final content release for New World: Aeternum. Amazon has confirmed that no new expansions, features, or server merges will arrive before shutdown.
That said, the developers will continue to monitor stability and performance. Bug fixes and maintenance will remain in place to ensure the game runs smoothly during its final stretch. The focus now rests on preservation rather than expansion.
In-Game Purchases and Refunds Explained
Players can continue to purchase in-game currency, including Marks of Fortune, until July 20, 2026. After that date, all in-game purchases will be disabled.
Amazon has stated that refunds for in-game currency are not available. Refunds for recent game purchases depend on the platform where you bought the title and fall under each platform’s individual support policies.
A Look Back at Aeternum’s Legacy
New World launched in September 2021 after several delays and quickly became one of the most played PC games of its time. At its peak, hundreds of thousands of players logged in simultaneously, creating queues that defined its early months. Later console releases extended its reach and kept the world active longer than many expected.
While sustainability challenges eventually brought development to a close, New World leaves behind a distinct identity shaped by large-scale PvP, crafting depth, and a player-driven economy. Its rise and fall reflect the volatility of live service MMOs in a crowded market.
One Final Year in Aeternum
Amazon Game Studios has framed this final year as a sendoff rather than an abrupt ending. Players have time to revisit favorite zones, complete lingering goals, and enjoy seasonal events without the pressure of future resets or updates.
If you still call Aeternum home, the road ahead now has a visible horizon. The world will remain open for another year, inviting you to decide how you want to spend its final days.
