If you have ever wanted to bankrupt your friends in Prythian, Hasbro just made that dream a reality. The iconic board game Monopoly is getting not one but two official A Court of Thorns and Roses editions, and the details are exactly as extra as fans of Sarah J. Maas’ romantasy series would hope. Both editions are officially licensed and inspired specifically by the first three books in the series: A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, and A Court of Wings and Ruin. Here is everything you need to know before you start planning your next game night.

Monopoly: A Court of Thorns Release Date, Price and Where to Buy

Both editions of Monopoly: A Court of Thorns and Roses will be released on October 1, 2026, and each version costs $39.99. The game carries a recommended age rating of 17 and up, which makes sense given the mature themes woven throughout the ACOTAR series.

Pre-orders are already live and selling well across all available retailers. You can pre-order the standard edition right now via Amazon, Target, and Walmart. The special edition, however, is available exclusively through Amazon.

What Are the Two Editions?

  • The custom mint green game board and stylized hardcover novel box for the Amazon-exclusive edition of Monopoly: A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Hasbro is releasing two versions of the game, and the main differences come down to colour and one very important token.

Both versions share the same game cards, properties, and gameplay. The only differences are the colour scheme and that extra Suriel token included in the special edition.

What Makes This Different From Regular Monopoly?

Quite a lot, actually. Hasbro has replaced almost every classic Monopoly element with something straight out of the books. However, it is worth noting that the core rules of Monopoly remain exactly the same. The thematic changes are cosmetic and flavour-based rather than mechanical, so anyone who already knows how to play classic Monopoly can pick this up immediately.

Here is a full breakdown of what changes in Monopoly: A Court of Thorns and Roses:

  • Money becomes gold and silver piece Marks, the official currency of the ACOTAR novels. Each player starts with four 50-gold Marks and five 10-silver Marks, totalling 250.
  • The Banker becomes the Treasure Keeper, who handles all Marks, title deed cards, auctions, manors, and palaces.
  • Houses and Hotels become Manors and Palaces.
  • Community Chest cards become Book of Breathings cards.
  • Chance cards become Suriel’s Truth cards, packed with plot references and character moments fans will recognise immediately.
  • The four Railroads become four methods of Prythian transport: a Fae Horse, Winnowing, Illyrian Wings, and a Sidra Ferry.

Which Tokens Come With the Game?

The standard game includes six tokens, each representing a key element from the series:

  • Illyrian Wings (for the beloved Bat Boys)
  • Feyre’s Paint Palette
  • Feyre’s Bow and Arrow
  • The Cauldron
  • The Truth-Teller Knife
  • The Night Court Mountains

The special Amazon-exclusive edition adds a seventh Suriel token, representing the ancient truth-bound faeries from the series.

What Properties Can You Buy?

The game board takes players through the seven Courts of Prythian, with properties pulled directly from the books. Some highlights include the Spring Court, the Archeron Cottage, the Court of Nightmares, the Prison, and even The Cabin, a location that will mean a great deal to readers of A Court of Mist and Fury.

The most valuable properties on the board replace the classic Park Place and Boardwalk with Rhysand’s Townhouse and Velaris, the capital of the Night Court.

What Does the Game Box Look Like?

Similar to Hasbro’s recent Monopoly: Fourth Wing release, both editions come packaged like hardcover novels. The box designs draw directly from the book jackets of A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury, making them just as display-worthy as they are playable.

How Do You Actually Win?

Gameplay follows the same core rules as classic Monopoly. Players travel across the seven Courts of Prythian, buying up properties, powers, and transport routes while working to protect the realm from the King of Hybern. The last player who avoids going bankrupt wins the game.

What Has Hasbro Said About the Game?

Jen Boswinkel, Vice President of Hasbro Games Global Brand Management, told PEOPLE that the team designed the game to let fans go deeper into the world they already love. She described the Suriel’s Truth and Book of Breathings cards as a particular highlight, saying the team filled them with plot and character references for fans to enjoy, and personally called out the Illyrian Wings token as her favourite piece.

With the sixth ACOTAR book scheduled for release on October 27, 2026 and the seventh book set for January 12, 2027, the timing of this Monopoly release puts it right in the heart of what is shaping up to be a massive autumn for the series. Whether you plan to actually play it or simply display it on your bookshelf alongside your copies of the novels, this is one release that is very hard to ignore.
