It’s finally happening. After months of suspicious clues, teasers and player speculation, Five Nights at Freddy’s is officially coming to Fortnite for Fortnitemares 2026.

Epic Games has revealed the crossover through an official trailer, confirming that Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria is coming to the Fortnite Battle Royale island when Fortnitemares begins on October 1, 2026. And this isn’t just another set of horror-themed cosmetics sitting in the Item Shop. Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Is Coming to Fortnite

The biggest piece of the crossover is arguably the location itself.

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria will become part of the Fortnite island, bringing one of the most recognizable settings from Five Nights at Freddy’s into the Battle Royale world.

Players had already noticed a suspicious pizzeria-like location being constructed during Fortnite’s ongoing Override season. Earlier Fortnitemares material also appeared to contain security cameras and FNAF-related dialogue, giving players even more reason to suspect that something involving the horror franchise was being prepared.

Now we know those clues were pointing toward the official crossover.

Epic’s announcement made the gameplay angle particularly clear:

“It’s almost showtime! The Fazbear Band has taken over Battle Royale. Face the animatronic animal bosses and survive the night… if you can. Fortnitemares begins 1st October!”

That wording matters. Epic is not presenting FNAF as a simple visual crossover. The four classic animatronics are being incorporated into the Battle Royale experience as bosses.

If you’ve played Five Nights at Freddy’s, you already know the four names that matter here.

Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy are all part of the Fortnite collaboration.

The reveal trailer shows the classic animatronics inside the crossover, with the characters taking on a much more active role than ordinary Fortnite cosmetics. Players will be able to encounter the animatronics as bosses during the Fortnitemares experience.

So, yes — the idea of getting chased by Freddy is creepy enough. The idea of defeating Freddy and then becoming Freddy is where things get properly chaotic.

The crossover also brings cosmetic content based on the iconic animatronics.

However, there is one important detail to keep straight: Epic had not publicly announced individual Item Shop prices when the collaboration was revealed.

That means players should not treat circulating prices or unannounced shop rotations as official until Epic provides those details.

The official trailer has effectively connected those earlier clues to the collaboration.

Is There a Dedicated FNAF Survival Mode?

This is where things get interesting — and where players need to separate what Epic has confirmed from what the trailer appears to suggest.

There has been discussion of a more dedicated Five Nights at Freddy’s-style survival experience involving a night shift at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. The reveal footage certainly makes the idea look possible, with the pizzeria, animatronics and survival-focused presentation all fitting the concept.

There are also reports suggesting that players could fight the animatronic bosses and then take control of them to hunt other players.

However, Epic had not officially confirmed a separate dedicated FNAF game mode at the time of the reveal.

The currently confirmed information establishes the pizzeria and animatronic bosses as part of the Battle Royale crossover. Any separate night-shift or dedicated survival mode should therefore be treated cautiously until Epic officially explains it.

That distinction is important because a trailer can tease a gameplay concept without necessarily confirming a completely separate mode.
