Final Fantasy XIV is one of the most consistently updated MMORPGs in the world, and Patch 7.5 is shaping up to be one of the most content-rich updates in the Dawntrail cycle. Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida revealed everything during the 92nd Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast on April 17, 2026. Here is a full breakdown of everything confirmed for FFXIV Patch 7.5, Trail to the Heavens.

Patch 7.5 is the first of a two-part story update that closes out the Dawntrail patch cycle before the next expansion reveal. The second part arrives in Patch 7.56 in early September 2026. It is worth noting that not all content listed in this article launches on April 28 — some additions, including Beastmaster and the new Ultimate Raid, roll out across the incremental 7.5x patches in the weeks following.
New Main Scenario Quests and Dungeon
Patch 7.5 brings a new wave of Main Scenario Quests that, despite wrapping up the Dawntrail patch series, draws deeply from story threads established in Endwalker. The new dungeon is called The Clyteum, and it takes players and the Scions back to the snowy ruins and abandoned factories of Garlemald.
Yoshida noted that lore enthusiasts will find plenty to pick apart inside The Clyteum, as the dungeon intentionally shows what Garlemald looked like before its destruction. Returning characters include Jullus, a fan favourite from Endwalker, as well as Zero and Golbez, both of whom appear in the Patch 7.5 trailer. The new villain, Halmarut, also drags the Scions back to the moon location Mare Lamentorum as part of the story’s progression.
New Trial: The Unmaking
The new trial for Patch 7.5 is officially titled The Unmaking, featuring Enuo as the boss, a villain drawn from Final Fantasy V lore. Yoshida described it as faster-paced and more difficult than recent trials, while featuring fewer environmental gimmicks compared to Patch 7.4’s Doom Train fight. Both Normal and Extreme difficulties are available from launch, with the Extreme version featuring moving AoE attacks and complex pathing mechanics.
Echoes of Vana’diel Alliance Raid: Windurst — The Third Walk
Patch 7.5 closes out the 24-player Echoes of Vana’diel Alliance Raid series with its third and final instalment, Windurst: The Third Walk. This entry continues the Final Fantasy XI crossover, with the first boss being the iconic Shantotto, a Tarutaru Black Mage from FFXI who appears in a significantly larger form. Players who know their FFXI lore will recognise why she opens the raid.
This instalment concludes the story of guest characters Alxaal and Prishe and brings the full Echoes of Vana’diel series to an end. A new FF11-inspired gear set for all Jobs is available as a reward from clearing the raid.
Beastmaster: New Limited Job
One of the most anticipated additions in the 7.5 cycle is Beastmaster, a new Limited Job in the vein of Blue Mage. Note that as a Limited Job, Beastmaster cannot be used in Duty Roulette, Main Scenario Quests duties, Deep Dungeons, Variant and Criterion content, PvP, Field Operations, or Ultimate Raids. It is designed primarily for solo play, open-world content, and group side content. Beastmaster will roll out during the 7.5x patches rather than on April 28 itself.
Unlock requirements:
- Reach level 50 on any combat class
- Complete the 2.0 Main Scenario Quest (A Realm Reborn)
- Have Dawntrail registered on your account
Core mechanics:
Beastmaster is a Melee DPS Job that starts at level 1 with a cap of 50. The core concept involves capturing monsters in open zones and summoning them into battle. There are 50 capturable beasts in total, all of which can be obtained as a solo player, though some also appear in party-based content like Alliance Raids.
Capturing a beast follows a three-stage process:
- Use Gauge to check whether a monster can be captured
- Use Weaken to bring its HP down and increase capture chances
- Use Catch before knocking it out to add it to the Master’s Bestiary
Once captured, beasts get recorded in the Master’s Bestiary with lore details attached. Players assign up to three beasts to Battlehorns on their hotbar and can swap between them during combat.
Beast actions include:
- Tempered Release — a unique attack specific to each beast
- Trick — an instinctual utility skill
- Nature’s Gift — draws power from the beast for the player’s own attack
- Finisher — a powerful AoE attack that sends the beast back on cooldown
Instinctual System:
Beastmaster manages two simultaneous gauges — one for the player and one for the beasts. When both reach 100 or higher through instinctual skills used in sequence, players trigger a powerful Instinctual Combo. The more gauge accumulated beyond 100, the stronger the attack. Combining two elemental affinities opens Light or Dark effects on the Job gauge, which must be used quickly before they expire. At higher levels, additional actions allow players to fill gauges faster and chain multiple combos.
Beastmaster also features dedicated single-player progression content called Crucible of the Unbroken, a format new to Final Fantasy XIV. Yoshida also teased the possibility of extra subspecies for captured beasts, including different skins and designs.
New Crystalline Conflict Arena: Archeia Harmonias
PvP players receive a brand new map for the payload-pushing mode Crystalline Conflict. Archeia Harmonias takes place in a library setting and introduces two new on-map mechanics:
- Healing Glyphs in front of each spawn point that reduce damage by 50% and provide healing over time while standing on them
- Aetherometers at the midpoint between the map centre and each spawn point, which act as checkpoints the advancing team must charge to 100% without leaving proximity or allowing an opponent to enter. Once fully charged, they create bridges and Jump Glyphs for the advancing team
PvP Series 11 also begins with this patch.

The Kefka Ultimate Tease
The most talked-about moment from the Patch 7.5 trailer is its final seconds, where the unmistakable voice of Kefka from Final Fantasy VI appears with the line: “Did you think you’d won? Guess I’ll have to spice things up!” Yoshida himself pointed to the trailer ending as a deliberate hint toward the upcoming Ultimate Raid, with full details set to be revealed at Final Fantasy XIV Fanfest North America on April 24 and 25, 2026. Kefka previously appeared as a boss in the Stormblood patch 4.x raid series, making his return a meaningful callback for long-time players. The Ultimate Raid itself will launch in a later 7.5x patch rather than on April 28, giving players time to work through the new MSQ first.
Jollibee Collaboration
Starting April 21, 2026, players in the United States and Canada can visit Jollibee for limited-time Final Fantasy XIV themed meals. The collaboration also includes an in-game Eat Chicken emote, as well as a merchandise line at Complex.com featuring t-shirts and sweaters with special artwork of Jollibee riding a Chocobo and Moogles eating menu items.
THE PRIMALS at Download Festival
Sound Director Masayoshi Soken confirmed that THE PRIMALS, Final Fantasy XIV’s in-game band, will perform at Download Festival in the UK on June 12, 2026. Exclusive merchandise tied to the performance will be available in the near future, with further details posted on the Lodestone. Soken also noted during the broadcast that the music team created almost as much content for Patch 7.5 as they did for the full 7.0 launch, describing it as essentially equivalent to an expansion in musical scope.
