Wheat Rice appears early as a humble request, yet it sends many players wandering across Kaifeng City in confusion. The Old Beggar and Little Beggar in the Forsaken Quarter ask for this simple dish, and the moment feels gentle enough that you expect a quick errand. The difficulty comes not from combat or puzzles but from locating the one vendor who sells it.

The Forsaken Quarter and the Search for Wheat Rice

The Forsaken Quarter rests on the quieter side of Kaifeng City. Its broken pathways and worn faces create a mood that fits the beggars’ request. If you have spoken to them, the quest begins right away, and your next step leads you deeper into this area.

The trick is that the game hides the Wheat Rice vendor from the world map. Players often assume Wheat Rice must be crafted or harvested, which sends them on a long detour. The truth sits a short walk away.

Where to Find the Wheat Rice Vendor?

A street vendor named Niu Mang sells Wheat Rice. His cart appears in the north section of the Forsaken Quarter, close to the large pit that dominates the area. You can reach him quickly by following these steps:

1. Move toward the big pit in the Forsaken Quarter

The pit serves as a clear landmark. Once you stand at its edge, face north toward the rows of houses.

2. Walk between the first and second row of houses

Niu Mang’s stall rests in this narrow stretch. You cannot spot it from the main map, so trust the layout rather than the markers.

3. Watch your mini map for the bowl icon

The bowl icon signals his noodle cart. It appears only on the mini map, which helps you pick out his exact position once you draw near.

4. Speak with Niu Mang

He greets you with a simple offer to try his food. Choose the option to taste his dish and the Wheat Rice becomes yours.

Now you can return to the Beggar duo with the food they asked for.

What Happens After You Bring the Wheat Rice (Spoiler!)

The quest plays out with a heavy emotional weight. No matter how quickly you bring the dish, the Little Beggar does not survive. The moment feels abrupt and painful, and players often return later to reflect on it. The scene stays with you, which seems intentional, since it strengthens the tone of the Forsaken Quarter.

You keep the Wheat Rice after the event, which turns it into a quiet reminder of the encounter.

What Wheat Rice Does for the Player

Wheat Rice carries a useful buff, so picking up extra servings can help in future exploration. When you eat it, you gain a 10 percent chance of harvesting extra herbs for ten minutes. The effect works well if you are gathering materials in the wild. It does not stack with other food buffs, so plan around it when you use it.

Can You Cook Wheat Rice Instead?

You cannot cook this dish yourself. Only Niu Mang sells it, and no other food item satisfies the quest. While this limitation might feel strict, it keeps the focus on the simple act of helping the Beggar pair.
