Ubisoft has confirmed a compensation plan for Rainbow Six Siege players following a major security breach that disrupted core systems over the holiday period. The incident affected the in game economy, temporarily disabled key features, and forced widespread account rollbacks. If you play Siege regularly, this response matters because it directly impacts your progress, rewards, and access to the marketplace.

What happened during the Rainbow Six Siege hack

During the holidays, attackers compromised Rainbow Six Siege X servers and injected massive amounts of in game credits into player accounts. The breach escalated quickly. Hackers hijacked the in game message feed, issued mock bans tied to a viral meme, and destabilized the game’s economy. Ubisoft responded by shutting down the marketplace, disabling voice chat, and initiating account rollbacks to correct inflated balances and inventories.

Ubisoft has stated that no personal data was compromised. The damage stayed contained within the game’s internal systems, but the disruption proved severe enough to require extended maintenance and manual fixes.

Ubisoft’s compensation plan explained

To acknowledge the downtime and inconvenience, Ubisoft is offering compensation to all players who log into Rainbow Six Siege during a defined window.

If you sign in between January 16 and January 25, you automatically receive:

  • Four times Battle Pass XP
  • Ten Battle Pass level skips
  • Missed daily login rewards, including a Delta Pack, an Alpha Pack, and the Auric Mold weapon skin for the P-10C

You do not need to submit a ticket or take extra steps. Logging in during the eligibility period triggers the rewards.

Account rollbacks and system recovery status

Ubisoft confirms that account restoration continues to move forward. The team is actively correcting accounts with inaccurate currency totals or missing items caused by the breach. Some fixes require manual intervention, which explains the staggered recovery across the player base.

Ubisoft plans to release another update once all affected accounts reflect accurate balances and inventories.

Marketplace and voice chat remain offline

The Rainbow Six Siege marketplace stays disabled for security reasons. Ubisoft says it will return later in Year 11, with a detailed explanation of changes coming in the weeks ahead. Until then, item trading and marketplace transactions remain frozen.

Voice chat also remains unavailable. Ubisoft has not shared a return date but has publicly labeled it a high priority. Expect further updates once stability improves across backend systems.

Why this response matters for Siege players

Live service games rely on trust in their economies. This breach tested that trust at a critical time, especially as Rainbow Six Siege X continues to evolve. Ubisoft’s compensation package shows a clear effort to retain goodwill while longer term fixes remain in progress.

Despite the disruption, player engagement remains strong. Siege continues to rank among the most played games on Steam, even while several features stay offline. That resilience gives Ubisoft breathing room, but full confidence will depend on how smoothly the marketplace and communication systems return.

What you should do now

If you have not logged in yet, make sure you do so within the compensation window. Check your Battle Pass progress and inventory after logging in, and keep an eye on official Ubisoft updates for marketplace and voice chat restoration.

This situation is still unfolding, but the current response signals that Ubisoft understands the scale of the issue and its impact on you as a player.
