Lara Croft stepped back onto the global stage during The Game Awards 2025, and she did not arrive alone. Two new games, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst, were officially unveiled, ending a long silence for the franchise.

Alongside those reveals came a defining detail. Alix Wilton Regan is playing the new Lara Croft, providing both voice acting and full performance capture in both titles.

This choice shapes how Lara moves, speaks, and carries herself across the next era of Tomb Raider.

Major Lara Croft Reveal Made at The Game Awards

Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Game Studios confirmed the casting during The Game Awards presentations, where teaser trailers for both games debuted. The announcement established that the upcoming titles step away from the Lara Croft seen in the previous reboot trilogy.

From 2013 to 2018, Camilla Luddington portrayed Lara Croft through voice and motion capture. The new games introduce a different interpretation, one that reflects confidence earned through experience rather than survival.

Who Is Alix Wilton Regan?

Alix Wilton Regan is no stranger to performance driven games. She played Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect 3, the female Inquisitor in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Aya in Assassin’s Creed Origins. Her work consistently centers on characters who lead, decide, and command attention.

That background aligns with the Lara Croft presented in the new titles. Regan does not simply deliver dialogue. She performs Lara’s physicality, expressions, and presence through motion capture, shaping the character at every level.

How the New Lara Appears in Both Games

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, releasing in 2026, reimagines Lara Croft’s original 1996 adventure. Developed by Crystal Dynamics with Flying Wild Hog, the game modernizes combat, puzzles, and exploration while expanding the story. Built in Unreal Engine 5, it presents a Lara who feels classic in spirit and modern in execution.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst, arriving in 2027, introduces a completely new story. Set in Northern India after a mythical cataclysm, the game places Lara among rival treasure hunters and ancient forces. Developed entirely with Unreal Engine 5, it is described as the most expansive entry in the series. Regan portrays a Lara who operates with clarity, authority, and restraint.

Platforms and Future Updates

Both Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst are confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. No Nintendo Switch 2 version has been announced yet.

Amazon also develops a live-action Tomb Raider television series starring Sophie Turner. The studio has stated that the show and games share core DNA while remaining separate projects.

For the games, however, the focus remains clear. Lara Croft returns through a complete performance, and Alix Wilton Regan plays her at every level.
