How to Open the Southern Bluemont Manor Strongbox in Crimson Desert – Cylinder Puzzle Solution

The Southern Bluemont Manor strongbox uses a five-cylinder tumbler lock that requires precise alignment, and the Finely Crafted Gold Necklace inside is a strong early-game damage accessory worth picking up.

The Bluemont Manor estate in Hernand holds two separate strongboxes across its northern and southern buildings. While the northern building hosts the rotating owl puzzle, the southern building brings a completely different challenge in the form of a cylinder tumbler lock. Getting the alignment right on this one takes patience, but with the exact sequence below, you can solve it cleanly without any guesswork.

What You Need Before You Start

Unlike the Northern Bluemont Manor building, the southern building requires a Key to unlock the door to the strongbox room. You also need a Mask equipped before you can steal the contents once the puzzle is solved.

You can purchase both items from the Back Alley Shop in Hernand for a small number of bronze coins. Alternatively, Keys appear as loot throughout the world and Masks can drop from defeated bandits. The Back Alley Shop is the most straightforward option if you want to grab both in one stop before heading over.

It is also worth noting that completing side quests for House Roberts will eventually grant you permitted entry into Bluemont Manor, which removes the need to bypass guards entirely. However the balcony method described below works at any point in the game without requiring quest progress.

The southern building of Bluemont Manor is the larger structure on the estate, located just west of the butcher shop and sitting between the notice board plaza and the manor with a fountain further west. All ground floor entrances are guarded, so walking through the front door is not an option.

To reach the strongbox without confrontation:

  1. Head to the left-hand side of the front door and look for the balcony above.
  2. Climb up onto the balcony, where a collection of windows sits without guards watching them. When you reach the balcony, look for the Open Window prompt — you may need to move very close to the window or pause a moment before the prompt appears.
  3. Open one of the windows to step inside the second floor.
  4. From the room you enter, head out into the hallway and walk through to the next room.
  5. The strongbox sits near the door in this second room. Check that no NPCs are in the area before interacting with it.

How the Cylinder Tumbler Puzzle Works

The Southern Bluemont Manor strongbox uses a five-cylinder tumbler mechanism. Each cylinder sits on a rotating board and needs to reach a precise height. The goal is to position every cylinder so that the silver top section sits within the picture area, the black dividing line aligns exactly with the top edge of the wooden panel, and the gold bottom section sits fully within the wood.

You lower each cylinder by interacting with its rotating board. Note that each full rotation of the dial moves the cylinder by one segment, so counting your interactions carefully is important. You check your progress by pressing the button on the right side of the strongbox. That right-hand button lifts all cylinders simultaneously so you can see whether each one is correctly aligned. If any cylinder is off, adjust its dial and check again.

The most important first step is to raise all five cylinders to their maximum height before you begin lowering them. This ensures every cylinder starts from the same position and the sequence below will work correctly.

Southern Bluemont Manor Strongbox Solution

Start by raising all five cylinders as far up as they will go. Then lower each one the following number of times, working from left to right:

CylinderTimes to Lower
1st (leftmost)5 times
2nd2 times
3rd (middle)4 times
4th3 times
5th (rightmost)5 times

Once all five cylinders are at their correct heights, press the right-hand button and then turn it to the right. When every cylinder is properly aligned, the lower wooden paneling will swivel open, and the strongbox will unlock.

If the Puzzle Is Not Unlocking

If pressing the right-hand button does not open the strongbox, check each cylinder individually and look for these alignment markers:

  • The silver section of each cylinder should sit fully within the painted picture area above the wood.
  • The black dividing line between the silver and gold halves should align precisely with the top edge of the wooden panel.
  • The gold section should sit fully within the wooden area below.

Even a single cylinder being slightly off by one interaction will prevent the unlock. Adjust any misaligned cylinders one step at a time and test with the right-hand button after each correction rather than adjusting multiple cylinders at once.

Collecting Your Reward

Once the strongbox opens, equip your Mask and steal the contents to claim the Finely Crafted Gold Necklace. After stealing, leave the area quickly — if any guards spot you during the act, a brief crime timer and bounty will activate, and staying in the vicinity makes it harder to lose the heat.

The Finely Crafted Gold Necklace provides a +1 Attack boost and a Critical Rate Level 1 increase, making it a genuinely useful damage-oriented accessory in the early game. You can sell it for approximately 4 Silver if you need coin, however upgrading it at the Blacksmith is worth considering if you want to maximise your damage output early and do not have another necklace competing for the slot.

While you are on the second floor, it is also worth checking the nearby rooms for minor additional loot — small chests, silver, or notes occasionally appear in this area and are easy to miss.

If you are working through all five Hernand strongboxes, the Oath of Darkness Earring from Northern Bluemont Manor and the Engraved Gold Earring from Lioncrest Manor are the highest-priority rewards since both are refineable for passive bonuses. The Finely Crafted Gold Necklace, however, stands out as the best early offensive accessory of the set if you are building around attack and critical rate.
