Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially confirmed that Code Vein II will launch worldwide on January 30, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The highly anticipated sequel was unveiled during Sony’s recent State of Play event with a brand-new trailer, offering fans their first extended look at the game’s world, story, and combat.
A Return to the Dark Post-Apocalyptic World
It has been nearly seven years since the original Code Vein brought anime-inspired visuals and soulslike gameplay to players. Now, producer Keita Iizuka and director Hiroshi Yoshimura are returning with a sequel that aims to expand on the original’s strengths while introducing fresh mechanics and deeper storytelling.
The story of Code Vein II unfolds in a bleak future where the last remnants of humanity coexist uneasily with Revenants—supernatural beings reliant on blood. Their fragile world collapses when a mysterious force known as Luna Rapacis emerges, turning Revenants into violent creatures called Horrors.
Players step into the role of a Revenant Hunter, tasked with uncovering the origins of this catastrophe. Alongside Lou, a mysterious girl who can travel through time, players will journey across two timelines—the present and 100 years in the past—in an attempt to rewrite fate and prevent humanity’s downfall.
Dual Timelines and Key Characters
The game’s time-travel system allows players to influence the past, shaping the present while unraveling hidden truths about Revenants and their struggles. Two central characters highlighted in the trailer include Lavinia, who entrusts the protagonist with their mission, and Josee, a companion who joins the hunt through the past.

This dual narrative approach emphasizes choice and consequence, giving players opportunities to forge bonds, alter destinies, and explore layers of untold history.
Evolved Gameplay and New Systems
On the gameplay front, Code Vein II builds upon its predecessor’s blood-based combat while introducing new systems:
- Blood Codes & Jails – Players can drain enemy blood to unlock devastating abilities and equip specialized weapons and armor known as Jails.
- Combat Customization – A reworked build system allows for greater freedom in weapon upgrades and skill synergy, enabling players to adapt strategies to their playstyle.
- Allied Companions – As in the original, allies will accompany players into battle. Each companion has unique abilities and personal storylines that deepen the game’s narrative and combat variety.
The gameplay trailer showcased high-stakes boss fights, fluid combat animations, and intricate environments—indicating Bandai Namco’s ambition to refine and expand the franchise’s identity.
A Long-Awaited Sequel
Since its first installment in 2019, Code Vein has developed a dedicated fanbase drawn to its mix of gothic anime aesthetics and action-RPG depth. With nearly a decade separating the two entries, Code Vein II arrives with heightened expectations.
The developers expressed their enthusiasm for finally sharing the project with fans. “This story carries a lot of drama and emotion,” Iizuka noted, hinting at narrative twists and powerful character connections awaiting players.
Availability and Wishlist
Code Vein II launches globally on January 30, 2026, and is now available to wishlist on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam storefronts.
With its expanded scope, time-travel narrative, and refined combat, the sequel looks poised to evolve the Code Vein universe into a darker, more ambitious chapter.
