Understanding how to cure frostbite in ARC Raiders changes how you approach Cold Snap maps. Survival now depends on reading terrain, planning shelter routes, and managing health with intent rather than reflex.

What Triggers Frostbite in ARC Raiders?

Frostbite appears only on Cold Snap map variants. These winter-affected versions of existing locations introduce snowstorms, frozen surfaces, and harsh winds. Once you remain outdoors under open snowfall for roughly one and a half minutes, frostbite begins to build.

The game communicates this clearly. Snow accumulates on your Raider, your character starts shivering, and your field of view tightens. Once frostbite activates fully, your health drops at a steady rate, one point per tick. The damage never spikes, but it never stops either.

Frostbite does not care about combat. You can stand still, loot crates, or fight machines. Exposure alone drives the effect.

How Frostbite Impacts Combat and Movement

Frostbite pressures decision-making rather than reflexes. The health drain forces faster rotations and shorter outdoor engagements. Any structure with a roof stops frostbite instantly. Walls do not matter. Doors do not matter. A ceiling alone blocks snowfall and resets the frostbite timer. The moment you step under cover, the damage ticks stop, the snow melts off your Raider, and your character exhales in relief.

You do not need a sealed building. Open depots, parking structures, and partial rooftops all count as long as something overhead blocks falling snow.

What Does Not Cure Frostbite

Fire alone does not cure frostbite.

Standing near flames, lingering beside burning objects, or warming yourself visually does nothing if snowfall continues. If snow reaches your Raider, frostbite continues to build regardless of nearby heat sources.

How to Remove Frostbite Instantly When Trapped?

If you find yourself far from shelter while frostbite actively drains your health, fire offers a risky but effective emergency option.

Setting your Raider on fire instantly removes frostbite. You can achieve this by stepping into a fireball burner, triggering a Blaze grenade, or walking through the flames of a Baron Husk. Once the fire extinguishes, frostbite disappears and the cold timer resets.

This method trades cold damage for burn damage and shield durability loss. Only use it when shelter remains unreachable and your health situation allows for recovery. Carry enough healing and shield recharge supplies before attempting this tactic.

Team-Based Frostbite Management

Team coordination offers another layer of control. A teammate wielding a flamethrower can counter frostbite buildup without damaging allies. This creates a moving heat source that allows short outdoor rotations between shelters.

The tactic requires discipline. Flamethrowers draw attention and limit combat flexibility. Still, in coordinated squads, they provide a powerful answer during long rotations or extraction waits.

Healing and Loadout Preparation

Cold Snap maps demand heavier healing investment. Frostbite deals steady chip damage, which increases overall healing consumption even without combat.

Bring additional bandages, Vita Shots, or Vita Spray compared to standard runs. Passive healing augments also play a critical role. Combat MK.2, Combat MK.3, and Tactical MK.3 help stabilize health after reaching shelter, preserving consumables for emergencies.

Passive regeneration does not negate frostbite damage outdoors, but it accelerates recovery once you return under cover.
