Unlock the Secret Badge and Icon Through One of the Game’s Most Hilarious Deaths

In 99 Nights in the Forest, survival is the ultimate goal, but sometimes, dying in just the right way can earn you more than just a respawn. Among the many badges hidden within this co-op survival experience, the Humiliation Badge stands out as one of the most elusive and ironically comedic achievements. Unlike other badges that reward mastery or endurance, this one is triggered by a secret and self-sabotaging act.

This guide explains step-by-step how to unlock the Humiliation Badge and its matching icon, including how to craft the required trap, trigger your demise, and equip your new symbol of glorious failure.

What Is the Secret Action in 99 Nights in the Forest?

The Humiliation Badge is one of 27 collectible badges in 99 Nights in the Forest, and unlike more straightforward achievements like surviving a certain number of nights or defeating an enemy, this badge only lists a vague clue in its description, “Complete a secret action.”

How to Unlock the Humiliation Badge?

Die by Your Own Bear Trap

Yes, you read that right. The key to unlocking the Humiliation Badge is killing yourself using a bear trap that you placed. The game registers this as a unique form of self-inflicted failure, which is exactly what the badge celebrates.

Here’s how to make it happen:

How to Craft the Bear Trap?

To set your tragic end in motion, you first need to craft a bear trap. This requires some early preparation and resource gathering.

Requirements:

  • Crafting Table (Level 2)
You must upgrade your crafting table to Level 2 to unlock the Bear Trap recipe.
  • Materials Needed:
    • 5 Wood
    • 1 Scrap Metal

How to Get These:

  • Wood: Chop down trees with your axe.
  • Scrap Metal: Place metal sheets or bolts into the crafting table to convert them into scrap.

Once you’ve collected the required materials:

  1. Interact with the upgraded Crafting Table.
  2. Locate the Bear Trap in the crafting menu.
  3. Press Craft (you’ll need 3 scraps total to complete it).

Setting the Trap (and Yourself)

With the trap crafted, here’s what to do next:

  1. Place the Bear Trap on the Ground
You can place it anywhere—including inside your campfire zone.
  2. Step on the Trap
Walk into it and take damage. This will trigger the trap and injure your character.
  3. Reset the Trap
Press E to reset the trap after each use.
  4. Repeat Until Death
Continue walking into the trap and resetting it until your character dies. Once you finally fall to your own snare, the game will recognize your sacrifice.

Badge Notification

Upon death by your own trap:

  • A pop-up will confirm that you’ve earned the Humiliation Badge.
  • The corresponding Humiliation Icon, represented by a grey question mark, will be added to your icon collection.

How to Equip the Humiliation Icon?

To display your hard-earned badge with pride (or shame):

  1. Restart the Game
Exit and re-enter 99 Nights in the Forest to ensure the icon becomes available.
  2. Access the Badges Menu
From the lobby, click the badge icon located on the left side of the screen.
  3. Find the Humiliation Icon
It’s in the third row, and looks like a muted question mark.
  4. Click ‘Equip’
Once equipped, the icon will appear above your avatar’s head in the lobby, showing others that you’ve completed one of the strangest feats in the game.
