Pokémon Pokopia is preparing to give players more ways to personalise their Pokémon-filled world, but its next Expansion Pass release comes with a few important conditions. While the upcoming content promises new accessories, furniture and additional Pokémon, players hoping to discover another town will have to wait for a later instalment.
The Pokémon Company has now confirmed more details about Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass Part 2: Dazzling Decorations, including its release date, progression requirements and the free software update needed to access it. However, the December expansion is not quite what some players might expect from the game’s next major DLC chapter.
Pokémon Pokopia Dazzling Decorations DLC Gets December 9 Release Date
The Pokémon Company has officially confirmed that Dazzling Decorations will launch on December 9, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement gives players a confirmed release date for the second instalment of the game’s paid Expansion Pass, which was previously scheduled for late 2026.
Released on March 5, 2026, Pokémon Pokopia became the first Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive Pokémon title. Developed and co-developed by The Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK and KOEI TECMO GAMES, the life-simulation game allows players to build environments, construct buildings and create habitats for Pokémon.
The upcoming expansion continues that experience, although its main focus is shifting towards personalisation. Rather than introducing another town, Part 2 will give players additional ways to customise Ditto and the Pokémon living alongside it.
The officially revealed additions include:
- New accessories for Ditto and other Pokémon.
- Additional Pokémon to discover.
- New furniture for decorating player-created environments.
- More opportunities to coordinate appearances between Ditto and its Pokémon friends.
The accessories already shown include sunglasses, bow ties and ribbons. One particularly interesting example is a Sylveon-themed ribbon, demonstrating how players will be able to create coordinated appearances for Ditto and other Pokémon.
The Pokémon Company has also confirmed that more accessories will be included, although a complete list of the available designs has not yet been revealed.

Why Dazzling Decorations Will Not Introduce Another Town
One detail worth understanding before the DLC arrives is that Dazzling Decorations will not add a new town to Pokémon Pokopia.
The three-part Expansion Pass has different content planned for each instalment, and the second release is specifically focused on customization and additional Pokémon.
The first expansion, Bubbly Basin, introduced an underwater town for players to explore. Part 2 takes a different direction by expanding the game’s decorative options, including accessories, furniture and Pokémon additions.
Players waiting for another location to explore and rebuild will instead have to look towards Part 3, which is scheduled for 2027.
Nintendo’s support information describes the Expansion Pass as a three-part DLC package that provides opportunities to meet additional Pokémon, explore new towns and access more content across the full package.
The current roadmap is therefore:
| Expansion Pass Part | Release | Main Content |
| Part 1: Bubbly Basin | August 2026 | New underwater town, additional Pokémon and furniture |
| Part 2: Dazzling Decorations | December 9, 2026 | Accessories, additional Pokémon and new furniture |
| Part 3 | 2027 | Another new town, additional Pokémon and furniture |
A specific release date for Part 3 has not been announced.
Free Version 3.0.0 Update Is Required to Play the New DLC
There is another important requirement for players planning to jump into Dazzling Decorations on launch day.
The expansion will be accompanied by the free Version 3.0.0 software update, which players must install before accessing the new paid content.
It is important to distinguish between the two releases. Version 3.0.0 is a free software update available separately from the paid Expansion Pass, while Dazzling Decorations is part of the paid DLC package.
There is also a purchasing limitation. The Expansion Pass is sold as a complete package rather than as individual downloadable expansions. According to The Pokémon Company’s earlier announcement, players must own the full version of Pokémon Pokopia to use the Expansion Pass, and its individual DLC instalments cannot be purchased separately.
In other words, players cannot simply purchase Dazzling Decorations on its own.
Pokémon Pokopia Dazzling Decorations Has Three Progression Requirements
Owning the Expansion Pass and installing Version 3.0.0 will not automatically unlock the new content.
Players must first complete specific requests in the Withered Wasteland area. These objectives are necessary before they can begin the Dazzling Decorations content.
The required requests are:
- “Raise the environment level!”
- “Rebuild the Pokémon Center!”
- Drifloon’s “Find a doll!” request.
These progression requirements mean that players who have not completed the relevant objectives will need to return to their existing save data and finish them before accessing the expansion.
The requirements also give returning players a clear set of tasks to complete ahead of the December 9 launch.
New Pokémon Accessories Will Expand Ditto Customization
Customization is at the centre of Dazzling Decorations, with the expansion extending the game’s personalisation options beyond buildings and environments.
Pokémon Pokopia already allows players to shape their surroundings, construct buildings and develop habitats for Pokémon. Part 2 takes that creativity further by introducing accessories that can be worn by Ditto and other Pokémon.
The first revealed designs include sunglasses, bow ties and ribbons. The Sylveon-themed ribbon is one example of how players can coordinate Ditto’s appearance with their Pokémon companions.
However, accessories are only part of the planned additions. The expansion will also introduce new furniture and additional Pokémon, providing more options for developing settlements and creating habitats.
The Pokémon Company has not confirmed the complete accessory selection or the exact number of Pokémon being added, so the full scale of the new content remains unknown.
Bubbly Basin Set the Stage for the Second Expansion
Before Dazzling Decorations, Pokémon Pokopia received its first paid Expansion Pass instalment, Part 1: Bubbly Basin, which launched in August 2026.
The expansion introduced a new underwater town, giving players another location to explore. Accessing the underwater area was made possible through the free Version 2.0 update, which introduced the Dive ability for Ditto.
Bubbly Basin also brought additional Pokémon and furniture, establishing the content format for the three-part Expansion Pass.
The package was originally announced in June, with all three instalments designed to work with existing Pokémon Pokopia save data.
While Part 1 focused on underwater exploration, the second instalment is centred on customization. The final chapter, planned for 2027, will bring another new town alongside additional Pokémon and furniture.
Pokémon Pokopia’s Apples to Applin Event Arrives Before December DLC
Players will not have to wait until December 9 for more in-game content. The Apples to Applin event is scheduled to take place from November 16, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. through December 1, 2026, at 4:59 a.m.
During the event, Applin will visit town and ask Ditto to help collect Syrupy Apples. Players can exchange the collected apples for event-related rewards, including apple-themed furniture that can be used to create habitats for other Pokémon associated with Applin.
The event features five Pokémon:
- Applin
- Flapple
- Appletun
- Dipplin
- Hydrapple
The announced event details specifically explain that players can use the apple-themed items to befriend Flapple, Appletun, Dipplin and Hydrapple.
Participation requires Version 2.0.1 or later. The event is separate from the paid Expansion Pass and is available to Pokémon Pokopia players.
Expansion Pass Purchase Bonuses Include Rare Pokémetal Ingots
The Expansion Pass also includes additional purchase bonuses announced when the paid DLC was first revealed.
Players who purchase the package can claim a recipe for dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper, adding further decorative options to the game.
There is also a separate reward involving 30 rare Pokémetal ingots. Players who purchase the Expansion Pass by August 31, 2027, can receive a code for the ingots through the email address registered to their Nintendo Account.
The code can subsequently be redeemed through the game’s Mystery Gift feature.
The dynamic Ditto print recipe has a separate software requirement: players must have downloaded Version 1.1.0 before claiming it.
These bonuses are connected to the Expansion Pass purchase and are separate from the new content specifically introduced through Dazzling Decorations.
Pokémon Pokopia Surpasses Five Million Worldwide Sales
The upcoming DLC also arrives after Pokémon Pokopia reached an impressive commercial milestone.
In August 2026, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo announced that the game had sold more than five million copies worldwide during its first four months on the market.
The figure includes both physical and digital copies and covers the period following the game’s March 5, 2026 launch. Nintendo supplied the sales data included in the announcement.
However, the milestone should not be confused with a confirmed percentage of the Nintendo Switch 2 user base or a specific ranking among all Switch 2 games, as those figures were not provided.
The announcement also reiterated the game’s position as the first Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive Pokémon title.
Free Pokémon Pokopia Updates Continue Alongside Paid DLC
Beyond the Expansion Pass, Pokémon Pokopia has continued receiving free software updates that do not require players to purchase the paid content.
The Version 2.0.0 update introduced several quality-of-life improvements involving Pokémon interactions, inventory management and world-building.
These included the Portal Pod storage system, bulk inventory management improvements, additional building controls and other adjustments intended to make resource management and town construction easier.
The free update system is continuing with Version 3.0.0, which will accompany Dazzling Decorations while remaining separate from the paid Expansion Pass.
Another Major Gaming Spending Story
Pokémon Pokopia’s DLC roadmap is not the only recent gaming story involving questions about how much players may spend. For another look at a controversial gaming cost calculation, see our GTA 6 $5,000 saving breakdown.
Conclusion
Pokémon Pokopia’s next major content release is bringing a different kind of expansion experience. Dazzling Decorations arrives on December 9, 2026, introducing accessories, additional Pokémon and furniture rather than another town. Players will need the free Version 3.0.0 update, the paid Expansion Pass and completion of three Withered Wasteland requests to access the new content.
Meanwhile, the Apples to Applin event will provide additional activities and themed rewards from November 16 through December 1. With Bubbly Basin already available and another town planned for Part 3 in 2027, the three-part Expansion Pass roadmap continues to take shape.
