When Does Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Release?

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 has a confirmed 2027 release window. No specific date has been announced yet, but Bandai Namco confirmed the game is actively in development and promised more news in the coming months. You can add the game to your wishlist now on Steam while waiting for further updates.

What Platforms Is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Coming To?

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Notably, the game has no last-generation platform support, reflecting the rebuilt engine powering its next-gen visuals.

There is currently no mention of a Nintendo Switch 2 version, though Bandai Namco has not explicitly ruled it out either. Given that Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero received a Switch 2 release, a Switch 2 version of Xenoverse 3 remains a possibility the publisher could announce further down the line.

What Is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3?

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is the third entry in Bandai Namco’s action RPG series, arriving almost a full decade after Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 launched in 2016. Like its predecessors, the game centres on online-focused action RPG gameplay featuring deep character creation, mission-based progression, and both cooperative and competitive multiplayer components including raids and PvP.

The game takes place in an entirely new Dragon Ball world set in Age 1000, with West City serving as the vibrant hub of this new universe. Players will fight alongside both familiar and new allies as the story of Age 1000 begins to unfold. The development team describes the experience as “anime come to life,” and the rebuilt engine makes clear that this is a fully next-gen title from the ground up.

This setting had previously been teased earlier in 2026 under the codename “Age 1000”, and the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour event confirmed this was indeed Xenoverse 3 all along. The trailer also briefly introduces a new character named Brett, offering an early glimpse at the fresh faces joining this new era.

Akira Toriyama’s Involvement

One of the most significant and emotionally resonant aspects of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is that original Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama directly contributed to the design of the game’s world and characters before his passing in 2024. The development team revealed new male and female player character designs created by Toriyama, as well as a design for an older future Bulma, emphasising the personal role he played in shaping this new universe.

Bandai Namco’s marketing prominently credits “from Akira Toriyama” in its materials, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 will almost certainly stand as one of his most significant final contributions to the Dragon Ball franchise. The development team paid tribute to his legacy during the reveal event, treating his involvement as central to the game’s identity rather than a footnote.\

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Final DLC Also Revealed

Alongside the Xenoverse 3 announcement, Bandai Namco officially revealed Future Saga Chapter 4, the final DLC for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Set to launch in Summer 2026, this last chapter brings the Future Saga Pack series to a dramatic close after the game’s nearly ten-year run since its original 2016 release.

The trailer frames this final chapter as a climactic send-off, with the tagline: “This summer, the last patrol begins. The final battle is coming.” The DLC also includes a newly revealed form of Goku arriving in Xenoverse 2 as part of this final content drop.

Dragon Ball FighterZ: Goku (SS4, Daima) DLC

The event confirmed that Goku (Super Saiyan 4, Daima) is joining the Dragon Ball FighterZ roster as part of the new Daima DLC, launching on April 22, 2026. This marks the first time the SS4 Daima form has appeared in the FighterZ roster.

Goku’s moveset centres around a technique called Wild Dash, which branches into four different follow-up moves:

MoveEffect
Double CombinationA striking move that is hard to counter even when blocked, making it strong in combos
Raging StrikeKicks the opponent upward, allowing a Super Dash follow-up on hit
Power SwingAn unblockable throw that does not hit crouching opponents
Quick MoveAdvances while granting invincibility frames, useful for countering opponents reacting to Wild Dash

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero DLC Details

The event expanded on the Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, first announced in January 2026. The new content includes:

  • Vegeta (GT) and Trunks (GT) as playable characters, marking their first appearance in the Budokai Tenkaichi series
  • A new costume and Super Attack for Goku (Z End) based on a fan-favourite iconic moment
  • A new solo mode where you select unlocked characters, earn EXP through battles and events, and use that EXP to strengthen your favourite fighters

The DLC is scheduled for Summer 2026.

Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra Updates

Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra, the free-to-play title currently running a Half-Year Anniversary campaign, received two notable announcements. First, a collaboration with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was confirmed, bringing new hero skins and emotes into the game. Second, the first-ever offline-format world championship for the game was announced, where winners from different servers will travel to Japan to compete for the title of World Number One.

What to Expect Next from Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3

Bandai Namco confirmed that more details on Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 will arrive in the coming months. Several major questions remain unanswered heading into those future reveals:

  • Will classic Dragon Ball characters return alongside the new Age 1000 roster?
  • How closely does the Age 1000 setting draw from Dragon Ball Online lore, which Toriyama also contributed to?
  • Will the game feature cross-play across platforms?
  • Will a Nintendo Switch 2 version eventually be confirmed?

For now, players can wishlist Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 on Steam and follow Bandai Namco’s official channels for further announcements as development continues through 2026 and into 2027.
