Nintendo has announced its most expensive Amiibo to date, tied to the upcoming release of Kirby Air Riders on November 20, 2025. The new Kirby Air Riders Amiibo, featuring Kirby on his Warp Star and Bandana Waddle Dee on the Winged Star, will retail for $49.99 each in the United States.
The figures were revealed during last week’s Nintendo Direct, alongside updates on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and a new Fire Emblem installment. Within hours, major retailers including Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart began taking pre-orders for the Kirby Amiibo, confirming the premium pricing.
Highest MSRP in Amiibo History
At $49.99, the Kirby Air Riders figures surpass the previous most expensive Amiibo lines, including the Street Fighter collection and oversized collectibles like Mega Yarn Yoshi and Detective Pikachu. For perspective, Kirby Air Riders itself will retail for $69.99—meaning one Amiibo costs nearly three-quarters of the price of the full game.
What Sets These Amiibo Apart?
Unlike standard $15–$30 Amiibo, the Kirby Air Riders models feature a two-piece design with swappable bases, allowing characters and vehicles to be interchanged. Collectors can mix Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee with different rideable stars, suggesting Nintendo may expand the lineup to encourage customization and repeat purchases.
Nintendo has not yet confirmed if these figures will unlock exclusive in-game content for Kirby Air Riders. However, the design emphasis on modular playability indicates the company is leaning toward a more interactive and premium collectible strategy.
Rising Amiibo Prices Amid Broader Cost Increases
The new figures reflect a steady upward trend in Amiibo pricing. When Nintendo introduced the NFC-enabled figurines in 2014, most sold for $12.99. By early 2025, prices had risen to $29.99–$39.99, with Nintendo citing increased manufacturing costs and ongoing trade tariffs as contributing factors.
The decision to set the Kirby Amiibo at nearly $50 has drawn mixed reactions from fans. While some collectors see value in the detailed, larger-scale figures, others recall that previous premium Amiibo lines, such as Street Fighter, quickly landed in clearance bins due to sluggish sales.
Looking Ahead
Nintendo has teased that more Kirby Air Riders Amiibo updates will be shared in the coming months. With Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Super Mario Galaxy also receiving new Amiibo, the company appears committed to revitalizing the collectible line even at higher prices.
Whether fans embrace the $49.99 price tag—or wait for potential discounts—remains to be seen. But one fact is clear: Kirby’s latest ride has officially set a new benchmark in Amiibo history.
