A well-known Marvel insider has shared fresh details about PlayStation’s long-rumored Marvel’s Venom PS5 game, raising hopes that the project is still in development despite ongoing speculation about its cancellation.
The standalone Venom title, first exposed during the massive 2023 Insomniac Games leak, was originally slated for a 2025 release as a spin-off of Marvel’s Spider-Man series. With no official announcement and only three months left in the year, many fans assumed the project had been quietly shelved.
Insider Claims Core Systems Are Complete
According to the leaker known as Redacted Guy on X, development had progressed significantly before going dark. Reports suggest that the combat system, traversal mechanics, and storyline were already finished, with motion capture and voice work completed by actor Tony Todd, who voiced Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 before his passing in late 2024.
These details align with earlier reports that the game was originally targeting a 2025 launch, making it plausible that development had reached an advanced stage before facing delays.
Leak May Have Caused Internal Delays
While some rumors suggest the 2023 leak may have led to the project’s cancellation due to its relatively smaller scale, others indicate the leak only disrupted Insomniac’s production schedule. This theory would push the game’s release window from 2025 to 2026, with a potential reveal still possible later this year.
However, Insomniac has remained silent not only on Venom but also on its larger upcoming title, Marvel’s Wolverine. The studio’s absence from recent events has fueled speculation but may also signal that multiple projects are simply being held back for a major showcase.
Official Silence Leaves Fans Waiting
Neither Insomniac Games nor PlayStation has commented on the rumors. As with most leaks, these claims should be treated cautiously until official confirmation is given.
For now, fans remain divided: some fear Marvel’s Venom has been scrapped entirely, while others believe the character’s popularity ensures his solo outing is still on the way. Until PlayStation provides clarity, the game sits in limbo — but the latest leaks suggest hope is not lost.
